    Invite for Yao

Rockets center Yao Ming will be named today to participate with the sophomore team in the NBA's Rookie Challenge. And this season, he will be expected to play in the game whether he is an All-Star or not.

Last season, Yao attended the game but did not play because he made the All-Star team. This season, the Rookie Challenge will be held on Friday of the All-Star weekend, allowing Yao and potentially this season's rookies LeBron James and Carmelo Anthony to play in both games.

    **************************************************

Combined with the rumor that he beats out Shaq for the starting center spot for the west conference for the all-star game, I think that he has to try to find a way to decline to play. He should take a week off instead of playing 2 games in 3 days.

What's the big deal? He won't log heavy minutes in either game...no one does...and it would be like having 2 scrimmages in 3 days. Neither game is physical or tough...I hope he plays both.

Please...The Rookie game is just a bunch of fast breaks and alley oops anyways...Yao can just stay on one side of the court and cherry pick all game long

Yao would be out of place in the rookie game. Yao does not run the fast break well and I would much rather have him resting the running the fast break the whole time in the rookie game.

Yes I know he won't be spending too much energy, but here are two reasons I don't want him to play:

    1. I'd rather have him sit home and enjoy mama's cookin'
    2. When Lebron dunks on him (cuz nobody plays D during the ASG, Yao included), all the stupid ass commentators are gonna say ohhhhh, he dunked on Yao. I don't think as a Houston fan I can handle too much more of that sh*t.

Btw, with Yao tired, Amare out, JWill's career ended, Caron's career might as well be ended, Dunleavy turning out to be bust of year, Gooden making people scratch heads why he won ROM sometime last year, RM cooling off and Nene as his name suggests (baby), not being able to hit a freakin' 8 footer, the Sophs might as well just give up.

    1. can't argue about that.
    2. that's easy. just get out of the way let whoever wants to dunk has his basket. then find the perfect moment block it and make a statement.:D

I thought if you were voted into the all star game, you couldn't play in the the rookie game/rookie-sophomore game.

Grant Hill, and Vince Carter didn't play in their rookie game/rookie-sophomore game.

He won't. When spoilt brat showboats don't do it, what makes you think Yao would? Besides, he'll get rapped forever for blocking that shot. People just plain like to see big men get embarrassed.

Oh yeah, the same Caron that's averaging 7.2 PPG, 3.5 boards, 1.7 dimes in 28 mins, shooting lower percentage than half the league's 3pt percentage (34.4 %), Reggie's  FT percentage (76.9%) and a record setting (literally) 5.9% 3pt percentage.

Figures that when he has a half decent game it's against the Rockets. What does that tell you about our perimeter D?
