Really, hes been making one screw up after next, are you kidding me??? Thats so not true at all? u telling me trading for Chris Paul and signing EG for 8 mil is a screw up now?
Just like in 15-16, I'd give him a season to turn it around. If another year of Harden's prime is wasted next year, then let him go.
He didn't strike out on LeBron or Kawhi. He was never at the plate. That is, he NEVER had an opportunity to sign either of those two because they were resigned long ago to go elsewhere.
I understand that the Rockets are under-performing by every measure. But how in the world is the solution firing one of the top 5 General Managers in the league? That would be the very definition of the following terms: short-sighted, impulsive, idiotic.
Let him oversee a true rebuild. He was a fan and proponent of "the process" long before the process actually happened. Exploit more inefficiencies and loopholes to make a new process an even better process.
It's surely impulsive and maybe idiotic but not short sighted. We already gave Mauri more than 10 years. He should be among one of the longest serving GMs. I am not saying fire him, but he had a lot of chances by now. There is a lack of good Gms out there that makes his job relatively secure.
Right. And, we can't really evaluate that suggestion meaningfully until we have an idea of WHO would replace him. We won't get any better with Morey gone and no one in the spot. So, will those suggesting we let go of Morey provide a replacement please?
idiotic to let Morey go, what will that salvage? He has made trades for James Harden, T-mac, CP3, Ron Artest to just name a few. All 4 of those big names, hes brought big free agents as well and reasonable draft selections deep in the draft. The issue is moreso Chirs paul being a greedy mofo, asking for 40 million when he could have gotten 140 and kept at least one more of the guys. No way can we be paying that much above the tax, Morey has done what he can and we haven't missed the playoffs in years because of it. Arguably have the 2nd or 3rd most winning % in the last 10 years, grass isn't always greener on the other side guys
No, you don't fire Morey. He's done an amazing job with this franchise. It's not his fault he was in an impossible situation with Ariza given the luxury tax implications of matching the insane offer Phoenix made to him. Losing Luc sucked, but then again, he never did get that shoulder surgically repaired, so I can't exactly blame Morey for not gambling on him staying healthy. He had to resign CP3. You don't let the guy walk after going 65-17 and coming within a game of a title(in large part due to him). And he got Clint on a bargain deal. Sure, the market drying up had more to do with that than any shrewd negotiating tactics by Morey or Tilman, but it's still a great contract. We just need to accept the unfortunate reality that the window for this bunch was a single season. Now the pressure is on Morey to find a way to get back to where they were last spring given the team's cap situation. It's not an easy task, but if anyone can pull it off in a short period time, it's him.
Morey also is responsible for two of the most disappointing seasons in rockets history (2015/2016 and current). This guy follows up great seasons with complete duds. In both situations he's tried to mess with chemistry in order to acquire talent, like Lawson and Melo. There's something wrong when it happens twice.
The jury is out on Morey, because by now I thought we would have at least (AT LEAST) one Finals appearance. I count last year as 'almost'. But man, he had 11 or whatnot years to realize that. Can't blame it on the foot of Yao Ming now, oh I see Chris' hammy!
It was more than Lawson and Melo and you know that. We are way more successful than alot of other franchises and if you think firing Morey is the correct answer than I would like you to point out someone who is better or if you REALLY trust Tilman(LOOL) to find someone who is better. Oh is that what we are doing LOL, success by final's appearances. We are one of the most sucessful franchises in the NBA in that timespan.
Hey, a Finals appearance guarantees us a WCF trophy, you get nothing much as the WCF loser. Maybe a cupcake.
To be fair, MDA's stubborn short-short-short rotations in the playoffs didn't help in the WCF last season. Morey did his job last year. In any case, who you gonna replace Morey with? Give him a chance to fix this. (Unfortunately we have 3 more games before December 15th, so the pain might only get worse before the doctor prescribes anything.
Again, there isn't much out there, you got to have an eye out on the younger upcoming guys. You know, the guy graduated from MIT who goes by the name of Dork Elvis, got here somehow. Sorry for mentioning that name Bill Simmons gave yeh. But I can agree that hiring a GM is more complex than just hiring a coach. I would not want to be in Tilman's shoes making such a decision if he feels he has to.
