I figured it had something to do with the company, but with so many other stations online wasnt sure why they couldn't be on as well.. wasn't sure if it was the same company that owned some of the other stations that do broadcat onilne.. but since there are some that do like chance said.. that's probably a good sign. just let us know if there is anything we can do to help push that along as far as emailing the company etc showing them that there is enough demand for it online or whatever
btw.. there are some stations online that broadcast jim rome.. which surprised me since he makes you pay etc to listen from his site..
Congrats, Chance! I heard you on the show the other day talking about it. Two suggestions: 1. More Rocket talk!! I love football as much as the next guy but (besides the Superbowl) the season is basically over. The other day they had some player personal guy named Dennis Lindsey (sp?) on in the morning and I loved it. See about getting someone like Calvin, Bill, Dennis Lindsey, Geno, CD, or even one of the players to come on once a week or so. I know JVG is out of the question since he doesn't do stuff like that. Hell, maybe our own Tim would do it! 2. No more gambling talk!! Just because certain hosts have chronic gambling addictions doesn't mean the listeners do too. Get rid of that Willie-B loser once and for all. Some of us still watch sports for entertainment and couldn't give a sweet rats ass about the point spread. Oh, and if you're going add some pop culture to the station, look into adding The Phil Hendrie Show. It didn't go over with the conservative talk radio audience boobs on 950 but I think the more hipper 610 audience would "get it". Just click the link in my sig, check out some of the sound samples, and prepare to laugh your ass off.
Congrats Chance, that's awesome. I listen to 610 all the time and I'm sure you'll do a great job with it. Only suggestion I'd add is local shows > national shows. I'd rather listen to Houston people talking about Houston topics (be it sports or something else) than Dan Patrick, etc.
That's cool - just wanted to make sure advice you get is relevant to the direction Infinity has decided to go. In any case, congratulations on the position. It's awesome to hear that you got a break and are now working at a place that many consider a dream job. Now go drink up.
I always though Chance was a white guy. Congrats on the new gig! That place needed a Rockets fan in charge. I miss 610 here in Austin. I'm sure you'll be the man to get it back online.
Congratulations. I cant believe no one else has mentioned this, but my biggest beef with 610 is just one thing! GET RID OF THAT FAKE IDIOT DAN PATRICK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! AAAHHHHH THAT GUY SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If there are any that want to hear this gem....here it is decide for yourself if Smeg has an accent or not.....btw...he does.. Smeg talks to Rudy
I'm not a huge Astros fan, but your new song rocks Chance...and so does your job! Congrats - I listen to 610 all the time. By the way, I think you need to see if you can maybe swing something like a regular Yao Ming interview - and here's why it could work: 1. He needs the practice - radio is a little friendlier than national TV. 2. I think it would work wonders in building fan support for the Rockets. 3. Surely between your contacts at work and here the resources exist to get something like this off of the ground. Just off the top of my head, you already have the JVG interviews and obviously Tim is a great resource who is occasionally available here. Of course, speaking as the devil's advocate, if Yao Ming hated "the song", you're going to have to get someone else to get him to agree to do it. Obviously billing something like this as the "Yao Ming Hour" is not gonna fly right off of the bat - it would be way too much pressure for him. However, if you built it up as the "Rockets Hour", and had an interview with one or two of the players each week, it would help the team and be a big hit with the audience I think. I'm sure Cuttino for one would welcome the publicity and be a good interview or co-host for call-ins. Anyway, good luck with your new job!
I like his show. He gets great guests. I'd rather here him than having someone like 610's Jeremy or Matt have that slot.
You really want to hear the same idiots call in over and over again? At least the national shows help break it up. They also get interviews 610 can't seem to.
