I like I said earlier. I'd choose the option with the clearest path to the basket.

Francis is a team player, he takes pride in being a point guard, he passes up his own shot to get others involved, he's young, he makes mistakes, I doubt he missed Anderson three times on purpose.

BTW Anderson got to the line 12 times in the last game, I'm guessing he got there by slashing to the basket, I'm also guessing that Francis might have passed him the ball once or twice for these free throws.

"No hands" Anderson also had 4 turnovers in the game with just 1 assist. He's a turnover waiting to happen and I'll be really dissapointed if he's our Starting SF next year. Hopefully he'll be a 6th man, I doubt it though.

all things being equal - a defender in equal position against both - who would you pass to: cat or shandn?

Actually that is not the point
The point is .. .when shan has to wide open
lay up . . . he was not getting the ball in
this last game. I f*ck up pass to mobes and
    i ill-advised finger roll resulted.

    Rocketriver,

You are wrong on this one, nevermind the fact that you're paranoid for thinking Francis is freezing Shandon out. You are taking isolated incidents, and acting like they represent how Francis has been treating Shandon as a whole for this entire season.

There was one time where Francis should have passed to Shandon, and that was when he went in for the fingerroll. Brandon was playing towards Shandon, anticipating the pass, but Steve could have given up the ball to him earlier. Shandon was NOT frozen out on the other two plays people have mentioned though.

On the allyhoop dunk to Steve, Steve was acting as the OUTLETTER. I think alot of people don't realize that. He recieved the ball on his left side, turned and fired it to Cuttino, who was on his right. That is what you are supposed to do. Francis did NOT see Shandon on his left. Either way Shandon should not have recieved the ball on that play, unless Cuttino had wanted to throw him an allyhoop. I'm not sure what you have learned or know about the basics of a fastbreak, but if the player has the choice of two players, one on his left and one on his right, he should ALWAYS pass to the better shooter or dribbler, both of which are Cuttino. The only way he should have passed to Shandon on that play is if he had a clear advantage of being down the floor over Cuttino, which he didn't.

EVERYONE on the Rockets, near the end of the season, had been making an effort to get Shandon more involved.

For one, Anderson is a better finisher than Mobley, which means he should get the ball with all else being equal on a fast break. Second, even more reason for him to get the ball is that it gets him more involved. Just like when a technical foul is called, the team sometimes designates the guy to shoot that hasn't got many chances in the game up to that point. Walt is not the teams' best free-throw shooter, yet he's always shooting the technical free throws -- WHY? Because the team knows that it's important for Walt to get in a groove. The same principle should apply to Shandon on a fast break. Francis thinks about none of this, though, and ALWAYS gives the ball to his buddy Mobley. It has NOTHING to do with Francis not having confidence in Shandon, and everything to do with Francis 'looking out for his boy'. I would be surprised if Francis had chosen Anderson over Mobley even one time this entire year on a fast break. Pathetic.

Surely you can't be serious. Anderson is a terrible finisher. If anyone kept layup percentages, he would have to be below 75%. I remember in the first championship series against the Bulls, he had back to back beakaways and missed the layup on both of them.
Mobely, on the other hand is a tremendous finisher. It's when he dribbles the ball behind his back and between his legs for 15 seconds before her STARTS that is his problem.

    whatever.

Rudy is quoted as saying without a doubt the best finisher on the entire team is Mobley.

Plus, it is plain as day. We don't need Rudy to tell us that.
