This is a good example of why I don't carry. I understand why some want to, but this is the kind of misunderstanding leading to tragedy that can happen and IMO it's just not worth it.

When things like this happen, we should hold the appropriate party accountable. This is what's needed.

I'd like NRA to come out and condemn this action and demand Consequences. There could be chilling effects of good guys with the gun now that may not be willing to be good guys with the gun, leading to only bad guys with the gun.

...D.L. Hughley has become quite the political commentator over the last few years.

    ...how's he say it?

"...The most dangerous place for a black person to exist is in the imagination of white people..."

...and as it turns out, shopping malls ain't too safe, either...

Totally predictable and predicted regarding NRA's good guy fantasy.

    Also predicted.

Looks like they caught the actual shooter, the worst part is that he doesn't even look like the guy they shot instead.

I don't know how it went down, but it seems like it'd be more a "shoot first, ask questions later" problem and not a mistaken identity problem. It might be equally unsurprising if the shooter was white.

Well I would have been a lot more surprised if the shooter was white because then they wouldn't have even been going off of a really basic description of the shooter. For example, if they hear "young black male shooter" and it was no more specific than that and you see the guy they shot with a gun, maybe you make that mistake.... and that's what I'm assuming happened. The closer the shooter resembled the deceased, the more reasonable the mistake. In this instance, they looked nothing alike other than both being armed young black males in the same area.
