17 pretty strong minutes last night. Got in the game and took no shots but got to the line once while playing pretty good post D. Maybe it's time to give him a steady 5-10 a night and go with a 3 man rotation at the 4 with Cato/Padgett/Spoon like we saw last night.

Spoon is okay, solid post defense, but like MoT he can't guard the big, quicker fours like O'neal or Garnett, etc... if MoT doesn't foul out, there's not much of a reason to put in spoon.

The man needs to drop a good 50 lbs.

As long as he contributes in the spots he's called upon to do so, he's fine. I've always thought he did a fair job. Better than the very likable, but not terribly ept, Mooch.

    Let's not ever mention Moochie.

Spoon hasn't done wrong by me yet, though. ;)

Spoon played alright last night. Servicable. He really saw some time because of matchups. I dont think JVG wanted Pike or Nachbar to play defense against larger and tougher players in Harrington and Artest. So the matchup dictated Spoon getting in there. That plus Cato and Taylor got absolutely NO LOVE from the officials. Cato was a foul magnet. He gets hammered on one end on a layup and no call and then barely scrapes a player on the other end and foul is called on Cato. Ridiculous!

I am sure against the Magic and Heat you will see more of Nachbar.

Actually, my most common thought about 'spoon last night was: why isn't Nachbar in?

I'm dead serious. He's as good on defense (weaker, but taller, and the Pacers aren't exactly a bullrush team)... and seems to have more O.

That's too bad - I used to be a big fan of 'spoon... I've got a soft spot for undersized players who try really hard. But he needs to get in shape.

Well, I'll say this for him, he's efficient. WHereas most of us would be able to fit one, at most two necks between our shoulders, 'Spoon has somehow crammed about 30 in there...

I remember Walton said something about Spoon that cracked me up at the time,

something about him not even up to the status of a spoon but a fork in the soup?

    Anybody remember?

Spoon seemed scared to shoot. Made Darko look like he had arrived in his previous game. The guy is definitely out of shape and seems like he'll be an offensive liability at this point.

I dont know what game you were watching but he did not play one solid minute! He is overweight, slow and has no passion. He had a wide open shot under the basket and did not take it. The guy is horrible and I could not understand why JVG was playing him!

I thought Walton's comment was more like "Spoon needs to start eating his soup with a fork".

I actually want to see a little bit more of Spoon in action. The last time I saw him play was when he was in Cleveland a few years back, and he was a decent role-player. I think he could be a healthy contributor to the Rockets at least until we find a better power forward this summer.

No, no love for spoon. I'd rather see Padgett or Boki play, someone who acctually deserves minutes, that dude is out of shape, he is an NBA player, you can't be an NBA player and be out of shape, it is unacceptable and he shouldn't be getting important minutes.

Big deal. O'Neal scored on everybody! Defensively, Spoon did a good job in Indy.
