I would normally agree with you 100%, but in Yao's case, the quicker he shoots, the better off he seems to be % wise. The longer he holds the ball, whether driving or in the post, the higher the likelihood the defense is set or that he'll get stripped. How many times have we seen that happen?!

He's such a great shooter that I think it's actually a higher percentage play to pull up in the post for the short jumper than to bulldoze his guy, wherein a lot of things can go wrong.

I noticed that in the Indiana game, too. I also noticed on at least one play that when Yao tossed the ball back out to Jackson, he cut to the 3-point line as if to set a pick, then ran back into the paint to re-post. Yao needs a running start to establish post position :)

I don't really understand all this Foster bashing. Jeff Foster is about as big and strong as a center gets nowadays, and for those of you who haven't seen the picture of him jumping over someone on the fastbreak, he has an absolutely incredible verticle for a big man. JO said himself that he would hate to be guarded by Foster. Brad Miller left the team, Foster steps in, and they still have the best record in the league. What does that say? Foster can definately help hold down the fort in the middle.

That has nothing to do with bashing Foster. I like the guy just like I like B. Miller. The point is Yao has 7"+/50lb over the guy, there is no point to shoot fadeaway against that kind of defenders. You take a bump, knock him off the balance, go straight up over the top. There is no way for him to challenge the shot.

Usually, when Yao's shots were blocked, it's either by the blind side helper, or when he fadeaway which lower his reach.

He is making it easier on himself. Taking the quick fade-away shot requires less power than keeping on backing down your opponent.

He is taking the easy road. Doesn't mean it's the best one, but it's the eaiser one FOR him.

He might also want to keep his opponent guessing, to avoid a double team or to lower the chance of a steal (don't dribble too long)

He shoots 53%....I don't care what he does if he keeps shooting 53%.

He might be worrying about offensive fouls, now that the refs aren't particularly nice to him.

My biggest gripe with Yao is his 3-point shooting. I mean, 0% is pretty bad, he needs to focus on improving that. This is his second year, and there's no excuse for a 0% mark.

If he can hit his next 3-point attempt it will immediately become 100%.

I think he can hit 3's! Some of his two are like not even 2 feet away from the 3 pt line

Nope, it would be 50%. He shot a half court 3 at the buzzer against Golden State.

Yeah, but his stat line is 0-0, maybe the buzzer beater didn't beat the buzzer.

Just wanna add piece of information here from CBS, hope nobody has pasted it yet.

Shaquille O'Neal may be the league's most dominant player when he's healthy and playing, but Ming is playing well enough to hold the top spot in the center rankings. He hasn't broken out like many expected him to do after a terrific rookie season and his game hasn't advanced to the next level, yet. However, he continues to show improvement as Jeff Van Gundy's offense is becoming geared towards working the ball down low to the big guy.

Yao's been so much more physical and aggressive lately. I love it :)
