Despite CIA's assessment with high confidence that Saudi Arabia's Crown Prince, MBS, directed Washington Post journalist Khashoggi's murder, which was conducted by members of the prince's inner circle, Donald Trump signaled Tuesday that he will not take action against Saudi Arabia or MBS for the murder https://www.cnn.com/2018/11/20/politics/trump-saudi-arabia/index.html
I appreciate the hard spot he's in, given the strategic relationship with Saudi Arabia. If this murder went down with Obama in the Oval Office, Obama would be reluctant to blow up that relationship as well. But it's not exactly a proud day to be an American. I wish we had no dealings with any of those ME governments, but I know that won't be happening.
It's the other way around. Trump had said repeatedly: I will milk'em , this's exactly what taking place for the past two years For every barrel of oil sold : 25 % goes to US weapons arms sales, 25% for local government affairs, the rest to build MBS palaces , pleasures and fullfiling his ambition of selling aramco national oil company to buy a larger stakes of Ubers
Obama definitely wouldn't have smeared the victim. I also think he would have found some extra window-dressing type of measures for official reprimand as well as labeling Saudi role in the execution "unacceptable." But a tough spot if we want to maintain strong ties, agreed.
