if Pelicans offer Hill, Julius Randle, and a first-round pick? Save wizards $12 million.

    How to defeat that package?

If these are buyout candidates, then Knight is not tradable.

If Knight is not tradable, then Tilman would not spend on big contract like Porter or Love.

the whole Knight and Porter contracts are in the tax land.

Any other teams would make better offer for Porter.

Forgive my ignorance, but what is that stat and how is it calculated? Robert Covington is #8 and #25 on those lists for 17-18 and 16-17, respectively. I like Covington, actually, but if that stat is some kind of ranking system of a player's impact he was above Lebron James last year.

Chandler would be an odd buyout for Philly, why would a playoff team buyout a guy like that?

Like all stats, it requires context, it shouldn’t be used as a player ranking system. All it is saying is that in the role that Covington plays, which is a role that he can only play if there are other guys to take on the playmaking and shot creating role, well, in that role, he is a very high impact player.

Thank you. I tried googling it, but still can't find out how it's calculated. Among guys who have a similar role there are questionable rankings. Zaza Pachulia had a better RPM than Steven Adams. Maybe that's because he was on an amazing team, but Adams has never cracked the top 70 while Marcin Gortat has been top 25 while in Washington. Adams is clearly the best of the three on both offense and defense in a very similar role. Tony Allen's cracked top 15, despite the stat supposedly value offense spacing created by shooting! I don't get it at all.

I don't think that makes the Pels better if they have to give up Randle to get Porter. Obviously Hill is complete trash, but it's questionable in my eyes.

If the Wizards are going to rebuild the first thing they ought to do is fire Ernie Grunfeld and hire Sam Hinkie. Granted, I've been hoping Hinkie might get hired to manage a team that is in a better position so he could get a chance to see what he can accomplish with the fringe moves building around an established core, but I'd just love to see that guy get a job again. Look at the Sixers. He's probably a top 5 living GM and he's sitting at home.

This can't be for real..there are people that actually want Otto Porter here? And some that think giving up Gordon is worth it? This is a new low for this board.

This is not the sort of contract that Morey would ever want on his roster. No way in hell!

He is perfect for the Rockets. His contract is... yah

I would not give up any in the starting five or Gordon for him.

For those talking about cost, consider:

    - Brandon Knight is $14.5m + $15.5m for next 2 seasons.
    - Nene is ................. $3.6m + $3.8m.
    - Melo is .................. $2.3m.
    - Pick #1 .................. $0m + $1.3m + $1.6m + $1.6m. Have to attach this pick to make Knight neutral. Both picks assume lowest 1st round salary.
    - Pick #2 .................. $0m + $1.3m + $1.6m + $1.6m. You have to attach this pick for this package to have even a slightly positive value.

If the player you're getting back has positive value (performance vs contract) then you would certainly need even more picks.

That's $20.4m this season and $21.9m next season and few million the following seasons.

Porter makes $26m this season and $27.2m next season (and $28.4m player option the following season).

If Tilman is not willing to swap 3 players irrelevant to our team right now and a couple of late firsts for this:

Then I don't know why the F we're bothering. If that trade of garbage pieces and picks for a 25 year old Otto Porter is too expensive for Tilman, then wtf are we doing here. If you don't understand the significance of these %'s up here, please don't @ me bro.

While reading up on Otto Porter I started to think about other players similar to him. Scoring wing players that are good, but not all stars. I compared this group.

    -Otto Porter Jr
    -Tobias Harris
    -Khris Middleton
    -Harrison Barnes

Porter and Barnes make the same money. And Harris about Middleton are about to be in the same money tier after this offseason. Folks, this money tier is the reality of the NBA.

When looking at that group of 4 guys, what REALLY stands out to me is Porter has an efficient game but does not TAKE ENOUGH SHOTS to get the same stats as the other guys. He takes 9 shots a game. Compare that to EG on Houston who takes 15 for example. Porter only takes 4 3s a game. Middleton takes 7. Porter could easily be averaging 16-18ppg in MDA’s offense.

If you think Porter is being “overpaid” for what he does. You probably are right as it relates to the Wizards.

BUT, if you put Porter on the Rockets…his value might be more aligned.

This article on Porter is also worth reading

Otto Porter would wreck shop in MDA's system. Do I give up Eric Gordon for him? Absolutely not. However, OPJ's ridiculous contract might actually work in our benefit here because we wouldn't be required to.

Zach Lowe - 11/20/2018 ↑ (speculation with Trail Blazers regarding same players noted above)
But Portland cannot take a talent on McCollum's level for granted. There is no guarantee they will acquire anyone that good over the next decade. They want to supplement the Lillard/McCollum duo with a third impact player, per sources around the league.

They will not get Kevin Durant, Kawhi Leonard, or Jimmy Butler. But how different would they look if they traded for a wing on the level of Tobias Harris or Khris Middleton? They could dangle their first-round pick to chase someone like Taurean Prince, hoping he develops into a real 3-and-D starter with more off-the-bounce juice than Harkless or Aminu. Perhaps they could wrest Otto Porter Jr. from Washington. Throw a player like that alongside Lillard, McCollum and Collins, and Portland's future looks interesting. If Golden State breaks up, why couldn't the Blazers dream big?

Collins is emerging as a super-valuable trade chip. The Blazers don't want to trade him, and almost certainly won't in the near term. But with few tradable contracts, they needed someone to pop. Collins' leap turns Nurkic into a trade chip, too. Some of those fat contracts expire soon, opening up flexibility.

Thanks for posting this @craguin. See, my thinking is along the same lines as Lowe. Lowe wants to add a wing to the Lillard/McCollum duo the same way I want to add a wing to Harden/Paul.
