Think back to the summer of 2001. We probebly had the best shot at landing Chris Webber. We had the money and his intrest, it was a match made in heaven. Well lets say we did get him. We would have gone to the playoffs as the #8 seed because Webber would have had to carry the load with Cuttino. That means no Yao. Not only that but Webber would be sitting on the Bench eating up our cap space and we would be complaining about it right now. I just think that its funny that that is one of the only times Les got lucky for being such a cheapskate. Right now we would be in soo much trouble, our team would be a sub .500 team and We would have to worry about Webbers legal problems. NOw arent yall glad we didnt sign Webber . It seems like Webber has disapeared.
If you said Antonio McDyees. I would have agreed. But Webber. Hell I would take his contract on even today.
Poor McDyees. His is really a sad story. Remember those video games back in the day, "Jordan vs. Bird" and that kind of stuff? I think a new game for the PS2 should be "Antonio McDyees vs. Grant Hill." You can race in wheel-chairs, tape up ankles, run on the bike, that kind of thing. First player to start 10 consectuive games wins.
This isn't the way i remeber it at all. I remember Chris Webber openly stating the Knicks were the team he was considering.
i'm not so sure. i remember webber saying that houston was one of the few teams he even wanted to play for, but was then really dissappointed that the rox barely made any effort to sign him. instead, we locked up mo to a large contract. man, i remember some b*tching and moaning going on over here when that happened.... especially after mo tore his achillies(sp?).
One minute detail people forget is that the Rockets had exactly zero chance at signing Webber at the time...
I hear Sam Bowie is awesome in that game! Even in the college version he has a rehabilitated broken leg.
I feel ya. It feels so good to be wrong sometimes. Mo shooting 50% off the bench scoring 12 a game is money. I wouldn't disagree with Waltons 6th man consideration talk. Cato could get some attention for most improved. Props to the Rockets as a group for maximizing the all their bad contracts. Cato and Mo..... improving. Mooch....gone. I'm not so mad anymore. Doesn't it feel good to be wrong?
Webber later stated that he wanted to play for Houston but that they didn't put in the effort to bring him there. Either way, the guy has too many years left on his contract for too much money. It's pretty damn safe to say that his best season won't be in the future, and that's not a good thing. However, if they want to swap MoT and the TE for him, I'm godo with that. If they want Steve and MoT for Webber and Bobby Jackson, I'm cool with that too.
Now that i think of it, i do remember people mentioning Houston as a destination for Webber. But did Webber ever actually say he wanted to play here before he resigned? I really don't know, that's why i'm asking. All i remember out of the ordeal was Webber didn't like the "night life" of Sacramento. He wanted to play in NY where there were more clubs and hot spots to party at. Plus i believe Spreewell was a good friend of his. Anyways, i'm not much for trade talks, but you mentioned MoT and i actually think he would prosper in Sacramento. He's got all offense and no defense......The perfect fit. Would Sac do it? Hell No!
i think its funny that his team still refers to him as their best player, its like placating a baby. he is a decent player that is injury prone and does not work hard enough (vince carter anyone?). i like our team as it is.
