This is a smart individual that has completely acknowledged and bought into modern analytics, while Carmelo still thinks the old ways are better, thus refusing to buy in and rendering himself a dinosaur. The differences here are shocking. Not only is Gary a superior defender, but he also gets up more threes than Carmelo while attempting 6 less shots total (Per Minute), basically cutting out all the fat the Rockets were experiencing. I know I might be getting a bit ahead of myself, but it appears that we have a Shane Battier quality intellect on this team. He just gets it, and he has bought in completely to our style. The kid has not even found his shot yet, but his sheer intellect has him shooting nearly the exact same TS% as Carmelo Anthony. For basketball analytics purists, this kid is a goldmine, just like James Harden. We got ourselves a roleplayer. LOCK HIM UP LONG TERM. 4 YEARS DORK ELVIS

I've been saying this myself. Particularly like that you used the word, "intangibles." Clark has them in spades. Intangibles can be hard to quantify, but long time fans know them when they see them, and Gary Clark exudes intangibles. He has excellent basketball instincts, which can trip up players in this league that have far more elite physical abilities, but simply don't have that instinct for making the right play at the right time, whatever it might be, at whatever end of the court the player may find himself. Spending 4 years in a good basketball program served Clark well. Sign him up for as long as you're able to, Daryl. Don't twiddle your thumbs. It could cost you, and Tilman, some bucks if you dawdle. I've certainly seen enough.
