Melo vs Bzdelik 15 years later....

Did Melo complain?

 

So if he indeed had a serious family issue, why exactly were the Rockets still negotiating with him? There's nothing to negotiate if someone retires to be closer to their family.

 

Not publicly, because quit is an option for him this year, believe me if he has the huge contract with us, he will complain loudly

 

Maybe they negotiated his schedule or commitment? My guess is Jeff is going to be less of a coach, more of a consultant. Countless insiders have said he has a family issue. I believe that. Chances are, he didn't want to come back and put the rockets in an awkward position if he had to leave the team in the midst of a trip or something. The rockets probably came back to the table and said he can leave whenever and for whatever reason he wants to.

 

I guess you didn’t watch Ryno’s first year with us. His defense is bad but not Carmelo bad. His shooting was amazing that year.

 

They gave him a fat raise and let him have some time to prep. Fat raise.

 

Yea he used that as an excuse too. And who wouldn’t negotiate if you could get more money. Jeff isn’t dumb I don’t think he is that kind of person that makes some family issue up just to get more money or a person so immature that he would retire just because he didn’t want to coach Melo.

 

As much as Harden gets bagged on for defense, people forget that they used to assign Harden to guard the other team's best player in OKC. He has the ability to play Defense when he wants to, and has done a good job in the last 7 games.

 

They had to play him to trade him and he gave more effort on D and didn't come with a circus

 

Ryan Anderson's "effort" on D didn't exist. Melo's a better defender & better scorer. It's not even debatable. What circus was there? Outside of the one you just made up

 

yeah the meloof's believed he could do everything ryno could and even in a down year. just a downgrade from pretty much every aspect. boy did they get a reality check

its just a breath of fresh air this team can play with that continuity and freedom again without having to worry about who needs the ball

 

He may have had a family issue, but that probably wasn't the reason he left the team. The timing of him retiring & re-joining the team seems to be around Carmelo

 

That too. Again, that doesn't scream to me that he didn't have family issues either.

 

D'Antoni and Bzdelik said it's either us or him. We ain't puttin' up wif none of his sheeite!!

 

I'm actually really starting to wonder if Bzdelik said if Anthony doesn't work out, I'll come back but not before. It is very suspicious that he agrees to come back after the Thanksgiving Holiday and Melo is removed beforehand. Hmm.....

 

I low key think. Bzdelik retired because we got Melo. And part of Bzdeliks deal to return to coaching was to cut Melo
