Does anybody even know who Hakeem Olajuwon is? http://espn.go.com/poll/images/poll9491_0.gif ------------------ Vice President of Executive Operations of the Sean Colson Fan Club http://bbs.babitze.com
I hope the profanity filter is at full strength... ------------------ Hakeem "The Dream" Olajuwon is the greatest player in the history of basketball. If you disagree, you are not a Rocket fan. Protrolls.com!
Isiah Thomas ??? ------------------ "norm, would you like to buy an indian scalp ? This deal isn't gonna make or break me Norm, so don't jerk me around." Harry Carey "Norm, if I had a mohawk scalp, I wouldn't be sitting here talking to you."
Great post moestavern, and what the hell has Carl Malone done compared to Dream. Hakeem did it by himself, Malone has had a good supporting cast but can't ever get it done. Malone is good but his city never danced in the street twice with championships. ------------------
Unless the player won a championship, he shouldnt even be considered on that list. I am kinda surprised that Isiah's name is so high. Honestly, I think more and more people are becoming mroe dissatisfied with Thomas (at least i am--when i watch those old finals he just doesnt seem that great, his career wasnt too long, his career as a businessman is very questionable and he is having some coaching difficulties). Hakeem should definitely be number one on the list. ------------------ Haha.. you fool! You fell victim to one of the classic blunders. The most famous is: Never get involved in a land war in Asia. Only slightly less well know is this: Never go in against a Sicilian when death is on the line!
People always say that Bill Russell is the best ever because he was a winner, because he won so many titles. For that exact same reason, Hakeem should be ahead of Flop face by a few billion bloody light years. Hakeem is a winner, Karla is a flopping loser. ------------------ Hakeem "The Dream" Olajuwon is the greatest player in the history of basketball. If you disagree, you are not a Rocket fan. Isiah belongs on the list, but not second, maybe 4th behind Barkley. j ------------------ Some days you just can't get rid of a bomb!
i wouldnt get too bent out of shape about polls like that. it might just mean more piston or jazz fans voted for who they wanted rather than a person who legitamatly felt that those players were better than hakeem. you know what i mean. karl malone will probably be the #1 points leader in NBA history. he also has been more productive longer than hakeem. i mean lets not kid ourselves, hakeem doesnt play like he used to and karl hasnt slowed a bit at all. i dont really have a problem with him being #1. i do think hakeem is better than isiah thomas. i think that would go without saying. but these polls dont mean anything. if they were to poll sports analysts or people with no biasness whatsoever. id bet hakeem would be over isiah, but not malone. ------------------ make it stop.
Karl might be a good scorer, but he is also a loser. Hakeem is a winner. ------------------ Hakeem "The Dream" Olajuwon is the greatest player in the history of basketball. If you disagree, you are not a Rocket fan. Protrolls.com!
Looks like the idiots are on their computers tonight and voting in full force. ------------------ Ceo of the Walt Williams and Lisa Malosky fan club. atheistalliance.org [This message has been edited by DEANBCURTIS (edited April 18, 2001).]
yep...no question...Hakeem ahead of Thomas... ------------------ "I didn't like jr. high when I was there. Why would I want to watch it on tv?" P. Mesku's opinion about "Survivor"
Excuse me Holden?...When polled, u think most sports analysts would put Malone over Olajuwon????...Are you FREAKING NUTS???? -Olajuwon is arguably the best defensive player of the past 20 years. He is the all-time shot blocks leader and always ranked near the top of the league in steals. Malone is a MEDIOCRE AT BEST player on the defensive end of the court. When Olajuwon was on his game, he could just DOMINATE defensively, change shots left and right. -Sure, Hakeem may have dipped his level of play the last few years, but let's not make it sound like Hakeem had one or 2 great years like Bill Walton, then faded. He was totally dominant till about 1996. -Truthfully, it's a joke to even put Malone's name in the same sentence as Olajuwon. Hakeem's legacy will be one of coming up huge in the playoffs, dominating bigtime Centers like Ewing, Robinson, and Shaquille. Malone's legacy will be of always coming up short in the playoffs. -Hakeem's playoff FG %: .528 (2 rings) -"Failman's" playoff FG %: .468 (ZERO rings) -That whole poll is basically a joke. Olajuwon has clearly been the 2nd best player in the NBA the last 20 years behind only MJ. To compare him to Karl Malone of all people is a total joke. But we all in Houston have known that there probably has never been a superstar as underrated or underappreciated as Hakeem in a very long time. -I would easily rank Drexler, Ewing, David Robinson, and Charles Barkley over the "Failman." Sure, the Failman has maintained his game longer. But what would you rather have: A player who was GREAT for 10-12 years, then slowed down his last 3-4 years or a guy who was merely GOOD for 15 years, but NEVER EVER EVER A GREAT PLAYER. -Answer me this: If the Rockets had Malone instead of Olajuwon (and surrounded Failman with the exact same supporting cast Hakeem had) do you think the Rockets would have ever won 2 championships?...If you say yes, you are totally delusional. ------------------ Get Cato out of there...
I don't know why everyone is throwing a big fuss. Its a vote on ESPN. You have to keep in mind most of the people that voted do not really know the stats of each player. Who do you see on NBC/TNT most? Definately not Hakeem! ------------------ Im too drunk to walk ... Im driving home!
ROGAINE SUCKS!!!! What the hell are people thinking??? He and ALFALFA havent won JACK **** !!! Did anyone read the article in SI about Thomas??? What a F#$@ING P*@@Y!!!!!!!! ------------------ "Chucky who?" Charles Barkley
I agree re: Malone. He's part of a two-man package. His career can't stand alone as Hakeem's can, and he's got NO RINGS. No way he should be ahead of Hakeem. Isiah is a different story. I can accept that even though I don't agree with it. Isiah is one of the ultimate "winners". I mean, that's how I define him. Not as a point guard or a clutch player but simply as a winner. Can you even imagine a lottery pick considering retiring from basketball after his 2nd year, because he's fed up with losing? Isiah almost did. That kind of devotion to winning is so rare nowadays. Note: I do think Stevie Franchise has it. ------------------ BK: "Hey coach, great season. Thanks!" Rudy: "Thanks guys, appreciate the support." This really happened.
Brian, no disrespect for you, but I think Isiah Thomas is a total loser off court. I respect him for his bravery, but pity him for his stupidity. (1) Every Rockets' fan should hate him because he said Dream is not on the same level as he and Jordan as Rockets's rings came in Jordan's absence. (A few years back, he was listing the great players and teams from 80s, Bird, Magic, himself and Jordan. Then the reporter asked him about Hakeem. He said Hakeem is good, but it doesn't count because he did not go through Jordan.) I don't see how any Rockets' fan could ever endorse Isiah if you had heard or read this. He changed his tone in the last 2 years, singing some prasies to Hakeem, not to the extent he kisses MJ's ass, probably because he has failed in his ventures so many times that he started hiding his stupid bias from reporters. (2) He tried to boycott Jordan starting from MJ's 1st All-Star game. Then he started kissing Mike's ass in the 90s when he realized that MJ is one level higher than him. I am not a big MJ fan, but trying to bring down another player by dirty politics is as low as you can get as a NBA player. Karl Malone is a saint in comparison. I would rather see Malone's elbow on court than Thomas's political moves off court. (3) The only likeable thing Thomas has ever done off court was buying the CBA to have more bargain chips against Stern. He failed in that business too. (4) Remember how he kissed Vince Carter's ass again in last year's Slam Dunk competition? As a judge, he showed all his favouritism after every Carter's dunk by jumping and laughing like a clown. He just looks down on the Rockets, old and new. Or to put it accurately, he is trying to kiss Stern's ass now that his CBA venture has failed. Can you see that? He is a man with no principle. He tried to battle everyone better than him, on court or off court, by means which I won't call honorable. When he fails, he starts to kiss that guy's ass. I would never go to war with such a guy. I bet Mobley is very willing to go to war with Stevie besides him. (5) One more thing, the year after his last Championship. The Pistons were beaten flat by Bulls in the last game. The reserves are out playing in the garbage time. Isiah led all starters to leave court before the game ended. While you can sing praise and say that it showed his "winner" attitude, I see it as a total disrespect to his non-starter teammates. Imagine how you will feel is you are the number 12 man on that roster. I bet he is the type of commander who will leave his soldiers behind in desparate situations. He simply mistreats the inferior people while kissing superior people's ass. Conslusion: Isiah Thomas is a loser off court. A person with high ambition, but not enough intelligence, wisdom and morality to carry out properly. I don't despise him totally though. I read his personal stories. He is a nice person to his family. But I will say he has fallen as a person, in an attempt to gain fame and fortune in the material world. Again, correct me if I am wrong, since you may know him more than I do. But from what I know, he doesn't deserve much respect off court. ------------------
I think the Order should have been Dream - (only case in history when Rings were overlooked) Malone - Scores alot but has no rings to show for it Barkley - You cant tell me anybody 6 foot 4 inches tall will ever dominate at the Power Forward position better than Chuck . Thomas- Won his rings , Did have a good supporting cast though . Glyde- Won his Ring , glyded over defenders , ended his career beautifully Ewing- No Rings is the big factor here , Yeah a clear case of how much Hype you get when you get drafted by a big market (like Kobe would have been in the All-Star game had The Hornets not traded him for Vlade Divac.) ------------------ Vice President of Executive Operations of the Sean Colson Fan Club http://bbs.babitze.com
