I do not think Melo is complaining about what his role was I think about Melo is complaining about what his role was going to become. You can tell by MDA comments about "squeezing" things when everyone is back healthy. So MDA wants to cut/limit Melo's role and I guess that is different than what they talked about before Melo signed. Which is why MDA said you have to talk with DM.
Your joking right. Clint’s a 5m player Lol. He’s closer to a 20m player than 5m. Clint is avg career highs in minutes rebounds and points and the team is a top 6 defense since everyone returned. Clint is not the problem smh.
That's possible. I wouldn't dispute that because I don't know either way. The issue I was trying to address was @basketballholic claim that Melo is elite in the post. I had never seen that argument (with evidence) made before so I asked him for it. Holic told me to look up the stats. I did. They did not back up what holic said. I'm still waiting on holic to chime in with the stats that show Melo's efficiency in the post-up, but he has produced nothing. Perhaps later holic will produce the numbers to back up his claims. Or, perhaps, holic was talking out of his ass. We'll see.
I like him, I think he'd be the last one to blame for this awful season, considering his salary and proctuion. but somehow most of our fans dislike him here. so I guess this club does not deserve his service.
Nope. What we do is far greater than what the NBA is moving towards, in terms of shooting the 3-ball. Dantoni wants to shoot the 3-ball 50 times a game! That's a unique position, even considering the changes on-going in the NBA. By way of example, 50 3-ball attempts would be 20 3-ball shots a game MORE than GS shot last year, and they won a championship. (And I could make the argument that they have far better personnel to shoot 50 3-balls a game). This is not the NBA. This is MDA. Check his resume. This is his M.O. wherever he goes. What's my point? Melo has not worked in THIS system because of its UNIQUE reliance on the 3-ball. You make a good point that the NBA is surely shifting towards the 3-ball. No question. But there is still room in the NBA for Melo to post up and shoot the mid-range shot, especially if he is going to make it. We have decided its not the way WE want to play. And frankly given our team make-up, I am not sure that is wise. How many nights have we stared at the team's 20th 3-point miss in a game and shouted "stop shooting the 3-ball" at the TV. I know we did last May 28th. [As an aside, I am not entirely sure we can say that Melo can't shot the 3-ball. Even in the disappointing 10 games with us he shot 33% from behind the arc.]
I think Ennis doesn't deserve the starting spot. He sucks just as much as Melo on defense but at least Melo can shoot better. I hope MDA changes his mind.
I doubt Ennis moves out the starting SF spot. My guess is though, you see Ennis starting but Clark playing more minutes if the current trends hold.
You have to pick and choose everyone works for someone and everyone gets info from someone. Everyone talks to someone. Common sense stands with Codman on this. If the Rockets didn't want Melo he would have been wavied already. So it is Melo who is questioning his future not only with the Rockets but his future in general. He has had problems with MDA in the past. He has had family/marriage problems in the past. Some of those things add up.
As the day wears on. The media narratives pick up. But when Woj comes in and says "Melo's people...", I tend to believe what @basketballholic is saying to start this thread. And as Jason Terry weighed in above on when Melo can be productive, his opportunities for that in today's NBA are not many, unless he wants to be that ball stopper that simply plods in the paint for 5 dribbles until he takes an ill advised post turn around shot. Then the statement of how Melo wants to attack the defense. If you cannot flourish in a iso-centric offense I am not sure you will do well elsewhere. But Melo's idea of "attacking" is much like YMCA style basketball compared to today's NBA. Players and Defenses are too fast for Melo to think he is going to blow by anyone at this stage. And the sad thing is, he believes he has choices and that he can go somewhere and start. This is gonna be interesting. Well more interesting.
WInner Winner!! And there is no meat on this bone I have read NOTHING that is not PURE SPECULATION saying Melo wants out or that he is being push Rocket River
