Lets talk individual defense... Opponents FG% per game vs each Rockets player: Gary Clark allowing opps to score 45.2% of their shots. Elite defense. PJ Tucker allowing opps to score 37.5% of their shots. DPOY. Clint Capela allowing opps to score 47.1% of their shots. Great defense. Chris Paul allowing opps to score 50.6% of their shots. Average defense. James Harden allowing opps to score 47.2% of their shots. Great defense. Those 5 Rockets above (mixed with some Gordon) were the lineup in the 2nd quarter that got us a 23 point lead at halftime. Here's the rest... **Ennis - giving up 65.5%. Horrible. Gordon - giving up 40.0%. Elite. Hartenstein - giving up 35.4%. Elite. Green - giving up 51.6%. Average. I'm still trying to figure out what Ennis does besides hit an occasional 3. He came back in to start the 3rd quarter last night and our 23 point lead evaporated to 12.
I had higher hopes for Ennis than most, but he is out of control. He’s constantly chasing lose balls and coming up short and leaving the team at a disadvantage on defense. Or driving aimlessly to the basket. His minutes need to be reduced.
Ennis should be a good rotation/bench player. I think the ask/expectation of him coming from multiple fronts has been a bit too much. The hope is that we find a way to get him back on the bench to play with the 2nd unit because we've found someone that's better and/or a better fit to start.
unfortunately ennis has poor court awareness and bball iq and still continues to commit foolish fouls
I'm kind of out on Ennis as well. He's not the transition/energy/defense player we needed. Also he has the ugliest shot I can remember.
this is what happens when you take a unproven player and try to put him in a bigger role he has never succeeded in or even showed hes capable. looks like he can have some value off the bench though
The concern about Melo has IMO blinded us about Ennis When people talk about Gordon and Clark getting better and deserving more minutes I think Ennis NOT MELO maybe the person to lose those minutes Heck . . .Maybe Both should take the cut but not Melo alone I am not a Melo apologist but Ennis has not proven anything to me yet Rocket River
Everything being said is true. Conversely, I'm sure Morey will tell JB to work with him. The energy and humbleness is there. I see him as a solid bench player after the all-star break.
yeah i think JB coming back can help a player like ennis. he has some qualities to work with and improve his outlook hopefully
Told everyone in the Game thread that Wins are boring, and the only thing talked about after are player criticism and other negatives I love using individual Def FG% as a measure, it's so fun: Ariza 59% HORRIBLE Gobert 52% SUCKS Marco Bellini 39% ELITE JJ Redick 35% ELITE Seth Curry 29% The Best in the League!! James Ennis 2017-18 = 42% James Ennis 2016-17 = 44% James Ennis 2015-16 = 45.5% James Ennis 2014-15 = 48%
These stats are horrible individually. Lol at Hartenstein. One can clearly assume that those numbers don’t take into account every time he gets blown by in the perimeter.
