The GARM has been overwhelmed by negativity and desperation lately, so I wanted to share a book with you all, some of you might have read it before: The Punch: One night, two lives, and the fight that changed basketball forever. Obviously, you might have guessed what this book is about, Rudy v. Kermit, the “fight” to end all fights. I’m at the office super early with not much to do. A friend gave me this book a while back but it just sat on my book shelf, along with the 50 year commemorative book from last season that I haven’t opened, just waiting for the perfect time in the off season when I’m desperate for some Rockets news/nostalgia. I’m only 37 pages in, but could very well read the whole book today. It’s been pretty interesting an easy read thus far — which is saying a lot when you’re on 4 hours of sleep! Anyways, check out John Feinstein’s The Punch and learn all the details about that frightening night at the LA Forum on December 9, 1977...
It's a great read. Lots of interesting details about Rockets history woven into it too from what I remember.
