I'm certainly not a 'Melo Only fan' - but I have been a very fervent defender of him... BC basically we are not a good team right now... Hardens hamstring, CP3's aging, overall lack of engagement, etc... Maybe it falls under the premise of 'a drowning man grasps at straws...' but I feel, barring a better option, we need a contribution from Melo (and others) or we're just going through the motions and have no chance of actually contending.... Taking Melo out of the mix isnt going to miraculously make us better - as the last game showed... Even wo Melo we only scored 89 points - with our entire starting lineup + EGo + GG... Yet @DaDakota wanted to argue that the problem was 'forcing opportunities for Melo...' - welp, that obviously wasnt the case last game... So now guys want to create the narrative that 'he's causing such a problem to chemistry that he's torpedoing the team - even when he doesnt play...' Soooo... I gotta say, I aint the only one grasping at straws... jus sayin....
Harden while our best player, can kill the team with several selfish possessions in a row, last night he shot and missed 6 3’s in a row and maybe a layup somewhere in there.. no ball movement .. just dribble dribble.. step back 3... if he taking 15 3’s and Gordon taking 13 3’s you mean we can’t cut that in half and give it to Melo in the post?
We can waive him, sure. But what good will it do if there's no one but scrubs to take his minutes? It's not like waiving Carmelo will make Tillman willing to spend his Luxury Tax Profit.
I can’t really fault harden and Gordon last night. Say what you want about the misses and there was plenty. Non of the other guys cp3 included acted like they even wanted to shoot the ball. Harden and Gordon were aggressive taking it to the basket and shooting there threes. They just missed them all. But when cp3 can’t score in the 2nd half and tucker is bricking threes and won’t even shoot some of the open ones. Ennis shooting dumb shots. Capela missing layups. What else are harden and Gordon supposed to do? Besides cp3 there The only guys that can get their own shot.
