Is it fun? Are you a Rockets fan? Never understood how anyone can so clearly just hate a member of the team they cheer for? Seems strange unless you aren't a Rockets fan?
For the record, Zhou Qi will never put up a statline like Melo did tonite. Didn't you guy want Qi to replace him?
What I saw from the highlights were decisive moves on the block and no hesitation shooting the 3. Some of those tough shots won’t go down but the aggressiveness was nice.
Driving to the rim is not as easy for him anymore with his fast first step gone, can't blame him too much. Cleaning up shot selection is not easy, but if he can focus and do it, three's, at the basket, and low post, he can make himself much more valuable. At this stage on this team, there just isn't need for him to shoot from mid-range.
to be fair, I've hated on quitten and mergady when they were still with the team. the team is bigger than the individual so i can cheer on the team while hating on mergady. but that only happens when they throw the team under the bus and quit. can't hate alston for missing all his tear drops, because he at least gives maximum effort.
Anytime 75% of his shots are 3's I'm happy. That's what I've been saying for months since we signed him. No midrange unless it's an incredible mismatch or he is ultra wide open. He started taking contested 3's instead of contested 2's. Next step is to start attacking when they close out too aggressively. He's not going to shoot nearly this well on average, so he needs some easier buckets. Like Tucker, he could have a career year from 3pt land if he gets into the season-long rhythm of taking confident, focused 3's. It was critical for him to see his 3's falling contributing to a win at a critical juncture in a competitive game. It's an important psychological milestone. He's shooting 41% on 6.3 3pt attempts, which would be a career year for him from distance. Overall, he's also scoring 15.3 on 12.5 shots despite the slow start, which is significantly better than the 16.2 points on 15 shots he put up last season. Going to the line slightly more often than last season. These are good signs. He's going to see that changing the composition of his shot selection can lead him to the redemption he's obsessed about. He is never going to improve on defense, but we can afford that off the bench if he is scoring efficiently (in contrast to the last half decade of his career).
