Are the other teams/players really trying? I didnt see any stars trying to join the Rockets this off season to try to beat GS. Nobody tried to team up with LeBron either. It's a battle for second place. Every GM, coach, player, fan, analyst, etc knows it. They may pretend there is stilll a competition because a certain outcome is boring AF. We all know it though.
Who is this guy? How is Klay the fifth best Warrior? That’s stupid. Klay is either third or fourth best depending what you think of Draymond (I think he’s a bit overrated). Who’s the other guy better than Klay? Cousins? The big guy who tore his Achilles? Even before the injury, he was not exactly much of a winner in the NBA. Let’s wait to see (A) how he recovers from a really bad injury, and (B) how he fits in this team and if he can adapt to the winning culture. The Pelicans actually got better after he was injured last year.
This is the cold hard truth. As much as we love to hate GSW we need to admit. They are selfless and willing to sacrifice personal accolades for winning championships. CP3 and Harden both could have taken paycuts allowing the Rockets to sign better players. They did not. Lebron could have come to Houston to basically form a superteam, he did not. Butler could demand a trade to an actual team close to winning, he does not. I'm NOT saying that these players do not care about winning...but they care about their brand just as much and that conflicts with winning when you have a team with 5 all-stars all willing to take pay cuts so that they can dominate the league. Thankfully. I don't think this will ever happen again in league history. Usually great players have egos and want to be paid their value and want to be the star of the show etc etc, the Warriors just found the right mix of stars willing to take pay cuts so that they can win championships. It sucks, but it is what it is.
To be fair, Draymond is the swiss army knife of the team. And his defense is still one of the tops, in the league. A healthy Cousins is so supremely talented, that if he stayed healthy and consistent, and had a good head on his shoulders, he would be a top 10 player in the league.
This is pure fantasy. If Clint Capela could do crossovers, beat people off the dribble and hit 3-pointers, he would be a top 10 player in the league. Even in your fantasy world, Cousins does so many stupid, undisciplined things on defense, he still wouldn't be a top 10 player. The Pels improved without him because he disrupts his own teammates. Put Cousins on a bad team, they will improve some. Put him on a mediocre team, they probably stay about the same. Put him on a good team and they become worse.
Scores are out of control, every night at least a few 120 and 130+ points scored. This no defense allowed is killing the game.
