So, Any news of all the Rockets that will represent Houston, this saturday, in LA for the ALL Star weekend . Yao is a lock for 2nd team Cat should be on 3 point contest Elie/Francis/Swoopes should be on the legend shooting thing Francis should do the point gaurd skills game (hey maybe he can prove some haters wrong) and Well the dunk contest is for the youngsters J.Rich and Chirs Anderson are the only ones I know will be on there.
The All Star game is Feb. 15th not this Saturday. How is Yao a lock for 2nd team? He could very well be a starter and there is speculation that he will not make the team if he is not chosen as a starter. I agree that Cat should be in the 3 point shootout. How do you know that Richardson and Andersen are going to be in the dunk contest? The NBA announces all the contestents at once.
My bad about the Dates, and I heard that you can be in the ASG and the rook/soph game. As for the Nug in the Dunk Contest http://www.denverpost.com/Stories/0,1413,36~90~1904500,00.html
Can we just cancel all-star weekend? Value as competition = 0. Value as real assessment of league's best players = 0. The only good thing about it is the spectacle... and for one, I think it stinks. I have no real problem with all-star games per se... but the NBA all-star game rivals the Pro Bowl for worthlessness.
rookies vs sophomores will be interesting carmelo and lebron will probably make the regualr game, though Yao might too Guard heavy Rookies Chris Bosh Dwayne Wade Kirk Hinrich TJ Ford Jarvis Hayes Josh Howard Chris Kaman Luke Ridnour Zarko Cabarkapa? Kyle Korver? vs Big-man heavy Sophomores Yao? Amare Stoudemire (health?) Mike Dunleavy Drew Gooden Nene Caron Butler Flip Murray Carlos Boozer Tayshaun Prince Chris Wilcox?
Actually, you've got a point there. The rookie/sophomore game has actually been cool. Nice to see emerging talents... and they seem to take the game slightly more seriously.
The first one was the best. We had Cat and Steve in that one. IT was nice to see how the Rooks tore apart the second year players. I loved the Odom, Brand, Steve lineup. They were enjoying themselves.
I disagree... if they took it seriously, then they would play a TAD bit of defense thus making the score a little lower then 140-120.... That being said, I have a great time watching it, it may be my favorite part of the weekend.
blasphemy! The NBA all star game is excellent. There's always one player that seems to stand out and make a good story, like Magic's final all star appearance, MJ's triple double, Iverson's overtime heroics, or Kobe being booed by the Philly natives. Plus, the NBA all star game is the anti-regular season game...lots of scoring and fast breaks, with defense at the end if the game is close. Even the all star game blowouts are entertaining as you see guys scrambling to get the ball to that one player that hasn't scored, so everybody can get some points... I have to agree that the pro-bowl is a yawn-fest...
I think they don't play defense because they want to avoid injury. It just seems like the all-star game itself is treated as one big promotion. That's part of the Rookie game - but there seems to be more actual basketball involved.
The story lines might be cool... if they didn't shove it down our throats so much. That's perhaps the # 1 thing that I find annoying about American announcers. They take a story, drone on about it for eons (whether it fits or not), and ruin any magic it might have had.
I think as a social experiment for the BBS, someone should enter Steve Francis into the "989 Sports Skills Challenge", the new event that tests a guards dribbling, passing, and shooting experiment, although I'm not sure "clowning" is one of the skills this competition is intended to showcase.
i think he should be in there... just to prove all of you wrong. Many games i saw steve make exellent passes. Like the memphis game to pagent. Those were some nifty passes.
Thanks for the link. I wonder why the Nugget particpants were told they were involved and the rest of the NBA has to wait. Seems unfair to the other dunk paricipants that Andersen and Richardson can be coming up with dunk routines before they even know if they are invited.
And yet he remains among league leaders in turnovers. Hmmmmmmm..............prove me wrong I think not.
I thought it was a joke, or some sort of sarcasm, but My detector rejected that. It was right off the post and I believe that is the main Paper in Denver. I didnt see it in the GS papers or website anywhere Unfair, Yes, But who the hell is Chris Anderson
he's the skinny white guy with a bunch of tattoos from Blinn College that always seems to play well against the Rockets
