Worst defensive start to a season in nearly 50 years. 1968-1969 121.4 2018-2019 118.8 We really did f-up this offseason. I dont know if this deserved its own thread but i didnt want this little nugget buried in another thread. When is it appropriate to panic?
As a league, this is the 10th highest-scoring season ever. This is also the highest-scoring season league-wide (so far) since the 1970-1971 season. Before this Clipper's game, the Rockets were actually around league average (middle of the pack) for ppg given up.
this is true! i still think he and ennis make our bench better than last year. but we haven't replaced ariza, luc, nene, or coach B. those are some pretty huge losses. the rockets need to start by finding a defensive coach and making them the associate head coach like coach B was so he has some pull. they don't have to sell the farm for butler but just adding 1 defensive forward and a legit backup center would put us back in contention. of course selling the farm for butler should hypothetically make us contenders again too.
I do not but I'm reading between the lines. I could be wrong but I can't imagine anyone being okay with bringing a guy on board that got you fired and derailed your career. He may never outright state this but again, I don't see how he would want to be here and Melo doesn't strike me as the type to extend an olive branch
it's an assumption, come on bruh, acquiring one player will not make an assistant coach quit, maybe there are personal reasons or maybe he just doesn't want to coach anymore, but I don't think acquiring melo was the reason that made him quit.
Cheapass broke Tilman can't afford Ariza and Luc and look at this D now!!! PJ is mad! Added forward P.J. Tucker, who the Rockets consider is their best defender: "It's tough, it's tough, it's tough. It's really tough. When you were so good at something, you miss a few pieces of role guys that could really do that and fit in that. Like I said, it's not the same team. It's a different team. It's not the same team. I hate talking about last year anymore, because it's gone. It's not the same team, so we have to figure it out."
Pack it up. Already running with "not the same team" quotes. 15-16 all over again. Mike D won't be sleeping well that's for sure. It's not as much fun when the media is right when they say the Rockets won't be that good
So the players are saying, "It's not the same team anymore. We miss a couple of guys from last year that made the defense work." Meanwhile, Thad Brown aka Green Chili Pepper and Tilman aka Brokeass Mountain of Debt are saying, "RUN IT BACK. #RUNITBACK"
The 14 second clock after an offensive rebound has a ton to do with the increased scoring league wide
I actually felt sorry for PJ during the post game interview. He looked like he has already lost faith in our "new additions" just 5 games in. This sucks.
I agree that leauge wide scoring has increased, but why are we at the bottom? Every team is playing under the rules (freedom of movement, 14 seconds after Offensive rebound), but after tonight we may ranked close to last.
