I think it was a mistake for Gordon to trim down this year, him being bulkier allowed him to finish layups through contact....and now sigh

 

His defense drop off. Plus he doesn’t roll as hard off the pick roll. Anyway right now the whole team sucks on defense and offense

Dude aint even worth what he got getting outplayed by bench players

 

No one seriously thought OKC were a title threat but this team had legit aspirations hence the drop off is mind blowing

Okay, I had to calm down.

Let's just hang on to the fact that when Harden, Paul, and Capela have started together this season, we are 1-1. They've only played 2 out of the 5 games together.

Biggest issue defensively?

Gotta make some adjustments. This team is different than last year. We'll have 2 days of practice. We'll put some other things in, try to figure it. Our defense was awful. We got two good days of practice. We dug ourselves a hole, gotta dig out.

Spurts of good defense?

We'll look at the tape. I don't know why we can guard for two quarters and not four. Some of it's new guys, some of it's guys have never switched before. It's different but not an excuse. We just weren't good. We'll make some adjustments. We gotta play better than this. Not sure we'll ever be great defensively the way we are right now but we can be better than this.

Big FT disparity & freedom of movement.

Yeah but we're making silly fouls. They're blowing by us. We foul from desperation. Combination of everything. I can't point to one thing. When you're drowning, you start to flail. When you do that, you foul, you're not smart, things break down. We gotta look at it, we gotta look at ourselves. We'll get 2 good days of practice & keep battlin'.

Blow byes?

We didn't have it last year, more so this year. That's definitely a big issue. We can't guard on the perimeter it looks like. Hang in there with us. We'll be alright. As a team, they gotta stick together & play hard. We'll figure out how we need to play.

Carmelo?

It was good but when you get beat by 40, hard to say it's great for anyone. He scored points and did his job.

When things fell apart in the 4th, was there give up?

Always a little bit but guys are tired, playing a lot of minutes, guys legs get heavy, PJ is running on fumes out there. When we lose him, we lose our toughness. Things we have to figure out & will.

Will you have to maybe stop switching?

Yeah, we need something else also if it's not working. Maybe it works against some people, some of it won't, some units can, some units can't. That's what we'll work on the next 2 days, get rid of the stuff we can't do.

 

yet last year everybody was arguing with me sayin that MDA was as much to credit as Jeff for the defense... despite the fact that he never had a better than mediocre defense for his entire coaching career... smh... yep, that MDA... genius at work... lol

 

Me either! Its embarrassing and frustrating. They look like a bunch of guys who haven't picked up a basketball in 6 months, and have never played together before.

At least D'Antoni sees that this group can't switch like last year. McHale clapped "play harder" straight to hell.

 

You should prepare yourself for the fact that will never improve, if we continue to employ the switch-everything strategy we have now.

Switching in timely situations yes.

Switching everything because we're too lazy is a huge no.

It's actually embarrasing as a person who was so incompetent offensively that I took pride in defense, to watch professional people employ this as a full time game plan.

 

Fans just want to make MDA the scape goat, but in this case, everyone just deserves the blame. I cant believe that MDA said we would be better than last year smh.

Coach, Harrell got 30pts this game and 38 total for the first 4 games.
He avg 23.5pts against us and 7pts against anyone else.

 

yep... but hey, he's COY and look at those offensive efficiency numbers from last year... he's obviously a genius... smh...
I never could understand why people dont comprehend if you score 2 points, and then give up an easy 2 points the net result is 0... I guess that's why he has to focus on the 3 ball... lol!
we're not getting the defensive stops that result in easy buckets that get guys in the flow of the game...

 

This is a different team than last year. CP3 and EG need to spend the next couple days shooting about a thousand shots from behind the arc to get out of their funk. As for our defense, well either start coaching better or go out and get someone who can help us. I don't want another guard. We need someone big who can defend.

 

Why are you putting the blame solely on MDA? Do you not see who we have running out there?
