Well sure . But that's a different deal . Also I dunno if those number work . We need Gordon + one of nene / Chriss just for butler

And we've got one of the few GMs in the league I would trust to minimize the damage of trading away 4 1st-rounders.

I’m in a taxi so I can’t crunch the numbers now.

My main point is I’m wouldn’t allow draft picks to get in the way of Butler if I were the Rockets in their current situation.

The assumption here is that it would be Taylor green-lighting this deal, not Thibs. It’s been reported that Taylor is much more involved in trade talks than previously. I do agree with you that Thibs wouldn’t do a deal unless he gets players that can help him win now. That’s why Taylor being involved is key.

Another potential Morey burner to note. Join date 2 days before Morey's hire.

Nice way of looking at it. This makes it a little bit more palatable...but jeez 4 first round picks sounds like a lot compared to what comparable superstars went for (Kawhi, PG, etc.)

    Understood

My point is that if you give up Gordon to get butler you are improving your championship odds a decent little amount .

If you don't give up Gordon to get butler ... your championship odds go WAY up . Therefore it's worth the four firsts .

If we give up Gordon , how much are we really improving our chances vs GS or another top team ? How much better are we ? 5-10% ?

If we don't have to give up Gordon , himmy butler is replacing Ennis and MCW in the rotation . That's a huge upgrade .

I know Gordon has started off slowly , but he's a really good player .

This is a total “win now” move which I think is a total mistake.

I dunno where Jimmy fits in this system? Jimmy B is NOT a pace and space spot up shooter. And I’m not convinced he ours is over the top against GS.

Maybe if this was last year. But not relative to our personnel this year.

I think Morey is again getting seduced into the “win now” mentality when reality says we may be farther away than he realizes having lost Ariza, Luc and Bzedelik.

Mortgaging the future of first round picks can be as devastating on signing overpriced long term contacts.

I just don’t like the terms of this as it reeks of desperation and short sightedness to me

I'm coming up with thirty-two point three three uh, repeating of course, percentage, chance of getting Butler.

Guess E.G. didn't want to be part of the trade cause he was missing shots like a blind man.

I think Butler is substantially better than Gordon. I think therein rests where we differ.

Right, but he isn't the boss. The owner is. And the owner has pushed for something to happen.

Gordon doesn't move the needle for the Wolves. They would still be bad which is why the deal wasn't done already. They want to build for the future, thus picks is their best way. We would have to throw in some young players like Knight and Chriss to make the money work.

Maybe the leak is a good thing then .im sure the owner is going to have plenty of people telling him to take the 4 first rounders .

Chriss has a Team Option that will not be picked up. He’s an expiring contract.

I think we're hitting the nail on the head as to why Woj was given this info to tweet.

It's what's actually happening if we can get him without giving up Gordon .
