So I just moved into this 10 year old place that has a built-in Ipod station with attached wall speakers. Problem is, it has the old iPod charging station. They gave me an adapter, but that means I have to get a smaller version. I guess it's called the "nano?"

Anyhoo, trying to find the cheapest small version that will still allow me to put music on it. And I'm fine with any cheats; I think iTunes is a rip-off.

    adapter to what? lighting? usb?

You can find 4th gen iPod touches for cheap on eBay. I'd recommend an iPod classic with at least 80GB. those are a little more expensive but are built well.

If it's a 30 pin to lightning you can just use a newer iPod touch ( you can install music apps on it via wifi) and play straight from spotify. Easier than downloading and formatting thousands of songs into iTunes.

It's a wall adapter with an old ipod/phone plug-in that has built-in wall speakers. Definitely worth using. Hope that makes sense.

That’s an iPod touch or iPhone. If you can look at the bottom of that device you can tell if you need a lighting (small) or 30 pin (wide) connection.

Both should be cheap to purchase

It has the original plug-in. (That Ipod touch is 10 years old) I do have an adapter for the new apple plug-in. Just trying to find the cheapest model that I can download music on. Or anything. Again, I'm not a fan of paying for music. Typically I just use Pandora or Youtube.

Spotify is 10 bucks a month. Join us in 2018. Also, there's this thing called Bluetooth.

we can probably guess that the built-in speakers aren't Bluetooth, which is why he has a wall docking station...and why OP said "attached speakers."

btw ffb: looks like that actually supports an old iPhone, too. Maybe you can buy an old iPhone 4, connect to WiFi only (no phone service needed) and play youtube through it as you like.

Pull off the iPod adapter and connect the wires to an 8-track player

Kids... I have a soundbar, and a nice speaker system for my computer. But wall speakers are just too tempting not to use, as well.

Now if I could figure out a way to sync all 3 up together...

Yes, and the thing called an iPhone is a Bluetooth receiver, too.

Since I know the OP and already figured he has a Bluetooth speaker setup, my assumption is the wall speakers are not the easiest things to access. Thus an old, used iPhone in the docking station seems cheap and easy solution to me.

I’ve never tried, but can’t you Bluetooth to two separate receivers or pair the receivers in a chain. So your music would go from PC to soundbar and wall speakers, or chain them?

I meant a receiver that can connect to speaker wires. It can't be that hard to access the speaker wires.

I had one of these once and it worked well. Not this brand but you get the idea. 30 Pin to BT adapter. Connect whatever you want and play music that way.

This is the epitome of the Apple ecosystem. Get hooked on proprietary obsolete technology instead of using future resistant components.

Its just a piece of plastic with a microchip designed to connect to your 10 year old technology. As KevC stated, rip out that apple crap and hook the speaker wires to something more useful.

That's easier than you think. 3.5mm jack to BT adapter :)
