I thought he has looked okay. Clearly still figuring things out but he was a good option on the elbow and gives us a different kind of iso game which our offense is predicated on. He had some good catch and shoot plays and a few where he still felt he needed a dribble for rhythm. It’s completely knew to him. I think he will steadily progress and maybe Paul’s absence for a few games with allow him to gain his confidence as he will need to play a slightly bigger role the next few games.
I disagree...he has no lift or burst, he can’t blow by anybody or explode at the rim I think he’s best utilized taking a bunch of spot up threes and occasionally going ISO when he has a smaller defender on him (like in the preseason when he had Mike Conley on him and backed him down for an easy jumper for example)
According to this article, the stats don't agree with your take: http://tv5.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/...agree-carmelo-anthony-houston-rockets-odd-fit
Why r u such a Melo hater? Did he do your gf or something? You plaster all over the place your contempt for the guy - wtf? His shot hasnt been good... but what does everyone always say - if the shot isnt falling then find other ways to contribute... well 10 boards and the best +/- of the game at +23... how about u give the guy more than 2 games into the regular season before throwing him under the bus for his shooting and getting comfortable - and you've been doing it since a much earlier juncture... smh...
I am not the biggest Melo fan guy, but geesh let the guy play a few weeks before writing him off. He's on a vet minimum and you're bitc7n ?....with he and Gordon on the floor I think that can be a decent bench punch. btw we won...eh ?
Calm down. Breathe. You are going Brandon Ingram right now. Once you have calmed down, read my second post in this thread. It clearly outlines how he can actually up his shooting %. I am talking about a very specific flaw in his game. I will let you read and figure it out.
Obviously the guy isnt comfortable in his role yet... can we give him some time? When I was b****in about MDA running our stars into he ground the last couple years by keeping them in late in games that were already pretty much over... I kept hearing about how 'guys need time to gel' and 'get familiar' and 'get in a rhythm' and everything... and that was halfway through the season.... this is reg season game 2 for Melo... Game 2....
The narrative of many coming into the season, melo will automatically play better just being next to cp3/harden Now it’s early in the season and he needs time to get use to the system. Westbrook is no longer the scapegoat Excuse
This was one of the things I tried to address as well. Before the season, this is how Melo was being sold to us. The Olympic Melo. Plug and play. Well guess what? That is not the case and now the goal posts are being moved. Let's remind ourselves how long it took Harden and CP3 to get used to each other. The difference? CP3 and Harden are high IQ players. Melo is not.
Melo doesn't have to be the reason we win, but he shouldn't be the reason we lose. And he hasn't. If he picks it up, that would be ideal and I think he will. He's basically a non p***y version of Ryno now and still a better defender than him too, someone who isn't afraid to pass up the threes because he missed the last one and is a pretty great post option. We can afford for him to take his time to figure things out. The core of this team is Harden, CP3, not Melo.
