Normally, I would say the Grizzlies aren't hate worthy because they aren't good enough. But recently I have found my hate for that team growing more and more with each game. I can't explain it. Even the games I don't see evoke my ire towards them, so it can't be the whining of Gasol. I think it is a combination of things. Firstly, ever since they have moved, they play us very tough. Francis no longer gets pumped up to play them because it isn't the same fans that booed him. Considering the ability of the players on the team, they play us much closer than they should, I feel. Secondly, Jason Williams pisses me off. That dude can be so out of control at times. And nothing drives me crazier than when he dribbles down the court, jacks up a 3 pointer and it goes in. When he is shooting like that, there is nothing you can do and it is beyond frustrating. You add to that Pau's whining, Hubie Brown's face, Lorenzen Wright's unchecked overly physical play against Yao and all the crap we have to hear about Posey leaving, and it adds up to a team I hate despite their record being mediocre. Go figure. No, they will never reach the echelon of hatred I have for the Jazz...no team ever will, but I would say that currently I hate the Grizzlies as much as any team in the NBA save Utah.
lol...I know...constant fouling on Yao Ming..and they call the small fouls on Yao...and Hubie Brown's face. I do hate them! What other teams are there to hate now...? Pheonix..that rivalry is pretty much over. Dallas..we always lose to them.
that is so true. i mean they're a whole game behind us and everything. denver is four thousandths of a percentage point behind us and utah trailing biting the dust at 1.5. /sarcasm anyway, it's not like it's the beginning of the season anymore to where memphis can be discounted as the west's darkhorse, but it's not the end of the season where memphis can be considered a lock for the playoffs either. simply put, they're scary team... just like the rockets. the way the records look it's hard to see which team is better at this point in the season regardless of who has the best individual players.
Gasol just looks like he needs a good elbow right in the kisser, that's what I think when I see Gasol play. I just want to see if he's a tough guy or a wuss. He's getting up there to a Stockton level of disdain. I see a rivalry alright. All the Rox players should circle the next game with them.
I hate Pau Gasol. That guy is such a whiner and a flopper. And he's not exactly a clean player on defense either. I agree he needs a well placed elbow or two.
When was the last time we beat Memphis/Vancouver? They seem to have our number. Seems like the Sonics almost do too. Try and recall the last Sonics game that didn't piss you off. They're not even that good!
So now its turning into Red Sox type fans? I'm pretty pissed at the Grizzlies right now but I'm also pissed at the Rox. Lets face it the Grizzlies played a great game and while Gasol might be a whiner and a crybaby his team got the W. This was a game the Rox should've won.
I hate Gasol 's cocky whinning face. I thought Karl Malone is the whiniest ever but this guy is even better.
And another thing! Has Pau Gasol made any improvement since his rookie campaign? His stat line has remained virtually identical. I thought he was going to be a true super star after his rookie year but he just doesn't seem to be taking it to the next level.
I can't find my self to hate the Grizz, they are trully a team that turned it around and have that underdog edge to them that I like. Also, anyone who said the logo was only successful because he was in LA needs to eat some crow now.
Im not quite sure I can hate them yet. They have been everyone else's b****es for so long, and it looks like West and The Walking Dead have done a bangup job of getting those guys to play their hearts out for 48 minutes. I hate that we lost to them twice... but you have to respect a team that plays as hard as they do. I will say that Pau needs to shut his trap and play..he is about a whiny little b****.
I agree with the rest of the post but I kind of disagree with this. Pau is still too small and does not have a back to the basket game, he shouldn't play center, he does rebound and can stretch the defense with the jumpers, so he can play both the 3 and 4. But the Grizzlies are damn frustrating. I really hate the swarming slap happy defense they play. Sometimes when I play pickup that happens and that always pisses me off. I hate it when defenders are always up in your face and pressuring, but I have to say it's effective. We just don't really match up well against this team's style I guess. Hope JVG can make some adjustments. Anyone know if/when we play them again?
I definetly see a new rival for the Rockets in the Grizz. There is almost no point in hating the Jazz anymore without Karla and Pasty. There was an intensity to the game last night that you don't see in the average NBA game.
If I had a dollar every time I heard SF yell that this year, I would be a millionaire. I get so tired of hearing that. However, Pau is by far the biggest baby right now.
The only thing I can see to hate them for is that they have both a coach AND general manager who knows what they're doing. Can't say the same for the Rockets though...
