Sam, do the honorable thing and just surrender. Instead of giving me a $0.10 rebuttal to a million dollar post, just give up. Face it, 10 minutes ago, you did not understand a 401k plan. This did not stop you from trying to correct me on it. You were SHAMED, and deservedly so. Instead of offering your COMPLETE AND UNCONDITIONAL SURRENDER, you instead chose to attempt to save face by your last post. Sadly, your last post only served to move the topic of conversation away from your two major failures in this thread:

    1) Your total lack of understanding of 401k's and IRA's

    2) Your inability to accept that taxes were lowered by President Bush on working Americans

The next time you decide to step to me, I ask that you remember this SHAMING. Instead of exposing yourself to another humiliation, you need to save us all the time and effort by offering your surrender. For you, it would look something like this:

What's wrong with lowering doctor's pay by increasing the number of doctors? Seems like health care costs would go down. Only thing that would change would be that less doctors would be able to ride around in corvette's and hummers. They might have to get a nice Acura.

Or lower the profit margins that the insurance companies make. I would rather that the doctors make the $$ than the stupid insurance companies.

Here is a really interesting article by Milton Friedman (of all people) about the economic inefficiencies inherent in a 3rd party payer system and the inequities present in the current American system. Even Friedman acknowledges that it would be more efficient to have the government be the sole payer of most health care costs, rather than have employer-based insurance. In the article (from 2001) he advocates pairing national catastrophic health insurance with a high deductible with tax-exempt MSAs. It's an interesting article...

We already use approximately 17% of GDP on health care expenditures and that number is only expected to grow. We're not getting much bang for our buck, compared to other OECD countries.

And as someone pointed out before, we all already (as a society) bear the costs of healthcare; some of those costs are diffuse and indirect but we pay nonetheless...

Jorge, do you ever get tired of declaring false victory, you're like the Al Haig of the BBS.

I don't know where you guys get these pictures or gif files or whatever they are, but keep it up because it sure is entertaining to someone who is bored (most of the time) at their job!

I would like to thank everyone for their participation in this historic thread. This thread signifies yet another landmark in the public shamings of the liberal, SamFisher.

Same thing happened to me, exactly.

I think it's hilarious, and a bit ironic, that T_J unilaterally declares himself victorious when it's clear to everyone but him that his arguments are so severely crippled by his own bias that it's impossible to construct a rational and objective argument to support them.

So, I'd like to get in on the fun: T_J's arguments are poor, crippled by bias, and don't have a leg to stand on. T_J's arguments are in need of

By the way - that "surrender" picture just tried to place a cookie on my computer and I noticed it comes from an Attention Deficit Disorder website.

Is it just me, or does this seem oddly appropriate?

As usual, T_J is shown to be long on rhetoric, tall on tales, short on facts, and severely lacking in the reading comprehension department.

On the other hand, he is remarkably consistant as the Bush bobble head.

I would actually say that the bobblehead is a little bit more valuable than TJ, at least if you own the bobblehead, you can sell it on ebay. When you own TJ, there's really not much else you can do with him.

It's not inconsistent with reality. Your taxes are spent to pay for services that you obviously would never use. Like libraries, for example.

Unless of course, you are an insanely hot, wealthy woman with very large breasts and a very small waistline, in which case you can do a variety of unspeakable things.

Dude, if you're going to pull a babe like that, you'll need to do something about that Krusty the Clown lid you're sporting.

it is appropriate for me to be compelled to pay for a service for someone else?

Yep, you got it. If you make enough, you are complelled to pay taxes.

That is the way it works in a democracy. People pay taxes and each person doesn't necessarily like or feel a benefit from each expenditure.

If you don't like the way the country runs, maybe you should just leave and go to another country. However, basically all countries that I know of work like this. Maybe you could imagine one where every citizen liked each expenditure.
