I think it probably depends on how you measure defense. They've been in the top half of their conference in points allowed the last several years in conference play - 4th last year, I believe. But the pace they play at sort of messes up all the stats because there are more possessions in a lot of their games in general so their offensive and defensive stats get inflated.
