Don't want to see another playoff-long shooting slump from Gordon. I think he's one of those self-proclaimed "rhythm players" that struggles when the pace slows down, though. Don't care enough to check, because Miami has one good contract that can swing the trade.
It’s hard to imagine Butler not ending up in Miami. With there cap situation, this is there shot to get an all-star. Who knows when another all-star will be available via trade. Pat Riley won’t let this slip through his fingers even if it means including Richardson. 5 years of Jimmy Butler > Josh Richardson
looks like the problem right now is that jimmy and the wolves both want the trade to be with miami. morey will have to make a godfather offer just to get the wolves to change their mind. may not be worth it (ie tucker). hopefully the miami talks stall and the wolves cave and send jimmy to us for ego and a pick before the season starts.
This is a fine outcome, better Miami than somewhere West. Also potentially things won’t go well in Miami that they may trade him again at the deadline. Honestly don’t see that team competing for more than a 5-6th seed even with Butler.
Wolfson told us this on the pod earlier. Said no trade would happen until the team gets back to Minnesota
Let him waste away in Miami while we possibly hoist multiple championships here. This team, with a full season, has GS's number.
Houston has also been aggressive in attempting to trade for Butler, sources said. Like Miami, Houston doesn't have the salary cap space to sign Butler in the summer and needs to acquire him now to obtain his Bird Rights to retain him on a new deal in July.
In other words, if Houston deals for him, it's not at all looked at as a rental. Can we please put that line of thinking to bed?
"Timberwolves executives told other interested teams in the past 24 hours that they didn't have any offers that met the franchise's criteria to honor Butler's trade request and planned to hold on to him until a deal met their requirements, league sources said. " Minnesota is still in the denial phase of grief. They need to get over it and enter the acceptance phase. The deals aren't going to get any better.
I think they could at least compete for 3 . I think TOR and BOS are locks at the top 2 spots but after that MIA with butler can compete with PHI and MIL in that next tier ..... depending of course on what MIA has to give up to get him . MIN was rocking a top 4 seed in the west before butler got hurt .
