I'm more worried that the Rockets will screw up what they have in order to chase another star that would only be around for one season. I think the Rockets are good enough to win right now.....and for more than just one season. If they trade for Butler, they have a 1 year window and then it almost certainly closes.
I don't believe for a second that Dan Gilbert would trade Collin Sexton in a Jimmy Butler deal where Butler could walk after 1 season. Nope.
Dan Gilbert is an idiot if thats true. That team is Mid Tier, maybe not even a second round exit. Does he really think he can get through the East again with the same exact roster. No its too stupid for me to believe.
The Rockets should act as scavengers and offer the 2019 1st rounder plus the 2020 2nd rounder from Dallas for Tyus Jones and call it a day.
it would be very hard to find a perfect replacement for Tuck, but can Morey not find someone to at least mitigate his loss? I trust Morey can find a way do that. then u factor in the upgrade that is having Jimmy Butler as your 3rd best player who is also a great/versatile defender y’all are acting like we’re incapable of beating GS unless we have PJ Tucker finding another valuable role player is easier than acquiring a star
Whos replacing Tucker, tell me who? Whos gonna mitigate? Dont say Taj Gibson cause we arent getting him.
You have a point there, but are you willing to gut our bench for a star rental? This may not be like the CP3 situation, where him returning was a given. Capela/Hart Melo/Chriss Butler/Ennis Harden/Green CP3/Knight/MCW
Durant replaced Harrison Barnes, bogut, barbosa, and ezili. Cp3 replaced Beverly and Lou Williams. Don’t worry about who will replace Tucker, that’s the easy part. I am confident Morey will trade for another role player
Trading two starters for a star does NOT equal gutting our bench. Speaking of gutting our bench, trading Bev, Lou, Montrezl, Dekkar and Wiltjer for CP3 worked out pretty effin' well for us.
Lol remember when Pat Bev was untouchable because he was the heart n soul of our defense?. Tucker is defiantly a player that brings a lot, emotionally, physically and just does all the little things but we will survive if we parted with him. Aslong as cp3 is on the team the passion for winning and intensity is still there. Also let’s look at butler aswell, he’s just as intense and passionate about high energy and defense. Infact that’s why he wants to be traded in the first place cuz he thinks players on the wolves are soft Keeping Tucker is crucial but not the end of the world If it’s me I’m doing the trade if there is no other way. You don’t pass up on an all star who brings just as much defensive focus as Tucker and is offensively way more gifted
The Rockets had a historically good offense last year. Swapping Jimmy Butler for Eric Gordon makes them better already. However, losing Tucker and keeping Gordon means the Rockets have lost their top three wing defenders from last year, and in Tucker’s case, the team’s best and most versatile defender from last season. Sure, they add Jimmy Butler, but that still leaves them a wing defender short of what they had against Golden State in the playoffs. The Rockets need the contributions of a PJ Tucker-type player next to Harden, Paul and Butler much more than they need Eric Gordon’s scoring. Also, as for your question about who would get picked first in a pickup game, the truth is, who cares. That said, Eric Gordon would, because he gets “buckets,” but smart teams that want to run the court would recognize the value of a P.J. Tucker.
I don't see any reason why the Kings would move WCS unless they don't like the prospect of him going into RFA next summer and paying him big dollars.
if Morey has to include PJ in the deal, then I’m ok with it for Jimmy Butler my mindset is to acquire the star and worry about role players later I think we’d have a good shot at convincing him to re-sign. We’re a great organization with a great front office and excellent coaching staff. We have well respected vets who are all about winning. Rockets will make the WCF at the very least, and could possibly win it all. Butler is a competitive guy. Will he leave that for LAC, NYC, or BK? He’s looking at those situations now, but winning and a great organization can do a lot to change minds.
This is just scared talk, and, at best, predicting the owner won't use his Bird Rights to outbid everyone. If the trade goes down, then that means Tilman is all-in; hence, why he OK'd the trade.
