He needs to fire the speechwriter who is too lazy to swap out that brag about doing more than almost all other POTUS in history. Works at his rallies but this is a different crowd.
Well that surely means he made America great again, have you seen any other president get laughed at when speaking at the UN? No1!
(later today) 45: General, I just have one question. Mattis, after inhaling past his teeth: What's that, Mr. President? 45: Can we attack them all, all at the same time? I mean, our military could do that, right? All of them, except Russia I mean. Mattis: Well, um... Sir, the joint chiefs have just never game-planned that. I'll have to ... (consults mental calendar) ... get back to you in, say, February.
Someone will argue that Trump being humiliated on the world stage is good for his brand of fake populism, but Trump pretends he's a tough guy and spent years criticizing Obama for making America a "laughing stocking." These world leaders literally laughed in his face in reaction to his preposterous boasts.
The funny thing, fox news showed clips of trump at the UN and carefully ended the clip before the laughter. And the white house release still photos of trump at the UN.
They're not laughing at him, they're laughing with him. You just fell for the fantasy that these "leaders" would actually choose you over each other.
Ahem World leaders erupted into a nervous fit of laughter this afternoon as they stumbled into a rare moment of self-reflection during remarks by the honorable and courageous President Donald J. Trump. President Trump - angel of coal, bringer of news, possessor of Toad - opened his speech with a casual mention of his administration's vast and unparalleled success in matters of the homeland, foreign affairs and space. Indeed, such an accomplished and magnanimous leader must remind his geopolitical colleagues of such achievements so that they may continue following his bureaucratic lodestar. Like children caught in a lie, or Gary Busey anxiously awaiting his fate and attempting to explain why he sold less lemonade than Meatloaf in a Manhattan boardroom, delegates from around the world began to laugh nervously when confronted with their own lack of progress. As guffaws filled the room, certain leaders began to laugh uncontrollably and frantically as they pondered their own failures in light of President Trump's undisputed success. Justin Trudeau of Canada is even said to have wet himself. Humble as always, President Trump laughed alongside his compatriots. After all, he who is humble in humor is strong in spirit. Onward, President Trump!
Lets not kid ourselves; what he means by laughingstock here is that (in his mind) we needed a President not afraid to bomb every country. The same people ignoring this; who shouted for isolationism in the primaries and mocked George W for Iraq are going to be cheering when we declare an invasion of Iran in 18-24 months. And those are the people that scare me the most; I had friends or acquaintances or relatives who were pro-trump. I know a guy who works in his ag department. His views are idiotic but they're consistent and they've been consistent. The people that really scary me are all the NeverTrumpers I knew who know adore the guy and his policies when they were pro free trade, pro Iraq war (than against it and now pro Iran war) in 2016. The same people who, upon arguing, say things like "that's just your opinion why won't you let me say mine" and get visibly frustrated. I've said it on here before, and I'll say it again; we have an alarmingly large portion of the population that cannot think for themselves or express their own ideas calmly and rationally; on both sides of the aisle. Frankly, we deserve Trump and and any humiliation we get from him because we made our bed
