I think he’s just as confused as a normal person is when looking at one of those carnival mirrors that make you look all fat and puffy

I think Cruz threw out a bunch of red meat - God in school, flag burning, protecting coverage for pre-existing conditions while the state AG is leading a lawsuit to do away with exactly that - to his base: the people who have voted in statewide elections over the last 20 years. But, I don’t think anything Cruz said would inspire any new voters to come to his side. Beto’s campaign depends on bringing new voters to the polls.

At the end of the day, I still expect Cruz to win. But, Beto has run a campaign that Democrats have been afraid to run for 20 years and that he’s this close at all is a testament to that effort.

Cruz knows what he’s doing in debates, and I can totally give him credit even though I don’t care for him. He threw out all the keywords that get his base terrified of the scary democrats. But I don’t see how that strategy could have managed to bring anyone new to support him. I thought Beto handled himself very well, and only expect him to get better in future debates.

Cruz is such a hideous reptile. It is hilarious to me that he was the runner up in the Republican Mr Universe competition. That Trump would be the actual choice of these knuckle draggers is a given. That some indelible cumstain like Raffy would be their alternate is a bonus.

I am guessing Cruz' strategy isn't to bring new people to his side, but use the fear tactics to make sure people who would be afraid of Beto won't just stay at home because they also don't like Cruz. If he can scare them enough to make sure they vote it can help him.

Cruz is favored to win. One way that he can lose is if new waves of voters are energized to come out and vote for Beto combined with people who are sick to death of Cruz or establishment politicians, in general, staying home and not voting at all.

Cruz may be wise enough to understand that new voters, independents, and others won't ever like him.

At risk of triggering, this would be a cool drive to be sitting in on...

Last night was a huge reminder of just what a disingenuous turd of a person Ted Cruz is.

Nothing but base pandering and fear mongering. No concern for the issues facing his constituents.

I have my disagreements with O'Rouke but Cruz really is the slimiest politician I have ever known.

Cruz seemed to always steer the conversation to his talking point. The question about school shooting he talked about god. Even the one question to say something nice he went to socialism. He is a good speaker, but he is so slimy. I don't even think the people who voted for him like him. All his base needs to hear is gods, guns, Hilary, socialism and they will probably vote for him and he he made to sure to mention all those words multiple times.

It took you 3 posts to over a 20 minute period to say that? I thought you were a bot but they don't respond THAT slow.

You mean Cruz’s....since Cruz is the one that’s taken way way way more money from outside the state than Beto...like 67% of all donations to Cruz are from simwewhere other than TX.

I'm watching the debate right now on line.

I agree with AL that Cruz simply moves the question to an attack point on Beto. He may be an effective debater but so unlikeable.

Beto is not afraid to say what his positions are.

You see, you can support the 2nd Amendment and think reasonable restriction on weapons are also possible. We don't allow people to own certain weapons already, and that didn't weaken the amendment nor people rights to own other weapons.
