Wouldn't be a surprise if the offense balls-out this final home series, setting the tone for the postseason. Keep ballin on the road too.
How the **** does JR towles have the franchise RBI record? I remember him being a very average catcher at best lol.
Man. I just looked up his stats I was young but I sure as hell wasn't misremembering at all. .187 batting average. Geez. Lol.
He was never too highly regarded, he worked his way into our top 20 so he was on the radar. Certainly not close to a top 100 national guy. He pretty much does everything really well, except hit for power. He is such an absolute non threat in that department pitchers are just gonna throw nothing but strikes, constantly. No need to nibble, or work the edges. Worst case he slaps a single. So there are major doubts as to whether he will hit enough to be an everyday player. He is an absolute textbook 4th OF though.
Kinda. He had a good year in the minors that year, came up for about the final 2 weeks of the season and just went nuts. Everybody was jizzing all over themselves about our new catcher of the future. I believe he made some prospect lists after that '07 season. The main thing I remember about him was that during one of those between inning video interviews they'd show at MMP, he announced that if he couldn't be a baseball player he would be a rodeo clown. No idea if that's what he's up to these days. eta: guess it could be noted that JR's HR and 2 of his 7 RBI that game came in the 9th off of an infielder (former Astro farmhand Aaron Miles). Stros beat STL 18-1.
