MCW is just about morey kicking the tires. he's not guaranteed a roster spot. i see the appeal of having our own version of livingston. knight... well his contract is better than ryno and is on court production can't be worse than ryno. If he plays, i hope he plays well to up his trade value... if he doesn't play, or plays poorly i don't think it will hurt his trade value. any team trading for him will do so to acquire a FRP and/or save money. it won't be for his ability to play basketball. pretty much the same reasons rockets got him. take the heat for example. ryno+FRP for johnson didn't work because the heat wouldn't save any money and the cap hit this year would put them into the LT. so they wanted to add waiters and the rockets didn't want to take on that awful contract and talks stopped. now with knight+FRP for johnson. their cap hit stays the same this year, but they save johnson's 3rd year @$15M and acquire a pick. same thing with the hawks for bazemore, and the hornets for marvin. ryno would cost their teams more money, they felt the pick wasn't worth the cost. now they break even on the cap and get a pick to offset the drop in talent.
This makes sense to me. I just wish Melton wasn't the price of this substantively lateral cap/roster maneuver. I am hoping either BK or MC exceeds expectations.
The appeal of our own Livingston is great, but that won't be MCW. That's only slightly more likely than Zhou Qi being our own version of KG. I think if MCW has a future in the NBA it's as a wing. He is not a good ballhandler or passer. Maybe he can be good at cutting to the basket though.
i think you are underrating knight..its hard to get a talented pg to be your 4th guard pg play is substantial to what rockets do...was saw what happens when you have tyler ennis briante webber jackson or beverly playing behind harden...imho knight is a perfect fit for this roster
Yeah this video is amazing. Maybe one of the best comeback videos of all time. Never has any athlete performed any of that.
For a wing he would be an excellent ballhandler/passer IMO, but I think you are right on the money. He is going to shoot a million corner threes in practice, and If he gets any minutes he will be sprinting to those corners and playing the pesky defense of which he is capable. No team ownership for MCW. Run to the corner b****.
From the Suns perspective here is a Suns bloggers' thoughts on Knight's tenure with the Suns. Again, sounds like culture and role (aside from injuries) had a lot to do with his problems. In Houston, the role would be more defined and of course a better culture. Doesn't mean that Knight will be a success, but I think the "situation" he would be put in, gives him a better than average chance for success.
Yeah, I saw that and have to agree. Would that it were so. If MCW were Shaun Livingston redux, we wouldn't have been able to sign him on the cheap. Obviously I hope he plays very well for us but I'm not holding my breath waiting for Livingston-type talent. If he gives us that I'll sheepishly dig up this thread and say, Well, thankfully you were right.
Dont be a condescending ass. The point is his knee looks stable and his quickness seems to still be intact. *******.
I'm not a fan of Brandon Knight at all, but I truly think he can be a contributor if we simplify his role and he stays healthy. He's a lot better than most teams' backup PGs and that's what he'll be here. He's a good shooter with his feet set and can handle the ball adequately. No one here would've ever wanted him as a starter, but as the third string PG he's a big luxury. His big salary is irrelevant to what we need from him. In fact, it may be useful for salary matching purposes if we need to trade for a better player.
Everyone needs to calm down. If he is a contributor then he will average 10-15 minutes. He’s going to play 15-20 minutes at the very most during blowouts in the regular season. If he’s not a contributor then Morey will have to attach a 1st to him and hope to get something decent back.
I think Eddie Johnson said on Sirius that when Brandon was traded to Phoenix he was stand-offish and didn't really want to to talk to many people. Probably because of the Bucks dumping him. He did say that changed about a year ago when he started opening up more. Maybe a change of scenery will help him out. Hopefully the injury didn't sap too much of his skills.
I remember (and I'm sure you fo too) when Livingston had been on 6 teams in 5 years and the Rockets cut him rather than keep him on the sorta cheap. Pricetag is indicative of past performance, not a guarantee of future returns. MCW is probably a footnote in Rockets history, but you never know. He was very highly regarded not all that long ago.
Thinking about guys we cut and could have kept on the cheap... it still hurts to know we developed and cut who is likely the best non-star 3&D wing in the league in Robert Covington. Damn would it have been nice to throw him on KD.
lead the league in deflections last year. i was hoping we could land him for the MLE before he resigned with the sixers. now that they're trying to win they won't part with valuable role players. he would be my first choice in the whole league for a 3&D forward (non-star).
i remember when a lot of us here were pretty pissed that morey cut him (solely for salary cap reasons)
lol @ Brandon Knight being a scrub. If healthy, he could start for at least half of the teams in the NBA. Him backing up Chris Paul makes perfect sense. He can create, he can dribble, he can pass, he can score (unlike Ryno) And people are mad at this? Let me guess...the old clutch fans adage "HE DOESNT PLAY DEFENSE".. lmfao
