Boki has a sweet first step. He made a nice drive to the hoop in the 2ndQ but it was a little long. Yao was there though.
Is Boki being showcased? I do find it a little strange that he all of a sudden starts getting some valuable minutes these past 2 games. But on the other hand, Pike has been getting wide open look after wide open look and cant hit a thing! I think Boki gave the Rockets some good minutes in Boston. He knocked down his open three's. We saw his ability to drive to the basket. If only he could finish more. If he is being showcased I hope it's in a package for the likes of an Al Harrington.
I really doubt he is being showcased.... I think that with Pike not playing good defense and not hitting his shots...what is he good for? at least Boki hustles and harrasses his man on defense...and has been able to knock down a couple of shots that Pike wasnt hitting. Also...Boki is a much better driver and passer than Pike. If he could just finish those fine drives more often...you can see he knows how to do it...he just cant seem to finish at the rim... I could be wrong and they are tryin to get hinm some time so they can include him in a deal....but I dont really think so.
How is Boki at getting Yao the ball? He's got good height and range. By his attributes, Boki would seem one of the more suitable players to try to feed Yao in the low post.
I agree with R2k. Piatkowski has been mediocre at best, so Van Gundy's trying to see what Boki can do. It'll take him a little time to find himself, but I'm confident he will. Minute-wise, he saw less than two full games last year, 77 minutes total under Rudy T. This year he's played triple that, and we're only about half way through the season. It may be his second true season, but the Rockets weren't exaggerating too much when they said that this would be his "rookie" season.
hopefully he is not getting showcased, cuz he can do a lot more than pike, pike has peaked, boki hasn't, there it's that simple, if the rockets have patience with him and don't trade him, we will have one very good team in the near future.
When Boki gets more PT, he plays better. But when he sits, he struggles. He's really a nice complement, offensively, to the lineup of.... SF JJ Boki MoT Yao Boki HAS court vision. JVG just doesn't call enough plays for him. Remember, Boki doesn't just look for his own shot. He can pass well!
I actually like Boki's game. He always seem to play hard and moving and doing the little things. His defense is getting pretty good. That's what you need, someone that play hard and as long as you do that, good things is going to happen.
I've been impressed with Boki. He makes the mistakes that an inexperienced player that's not getting enough play time would make. On defense he fouls too much, and sometimes guards the wrong man who's open for a bucket. On offense when he drives, he shows the ball too much when making a move and ends up getting stripped instead of holding it in a safer position where it'll be out of reach from a defenders grip. The plus side is he can hit the perimeter shot well alteast when he's getting enough minutes, and all his deficiencies are minor. He shows heart and hustles instead of being content as a benchwarmer, meaning he's trying to improve. I think he could definitely be a starting small forward given a season of being a backup while playing atleast 15-20 minutes a game. It'll improve his game completely in the long run. Sure bench him when he's fouling and putting the other team is in the penalty, or when he plays bad, but don't leave him in the doghouse for 10 game stretches.
From the Chronicle: jeez you fantasy trade guys never cease to amaze me - wetting your pants over a simple rotation move hoping it would equate to the possibility of an upcoming trade.
It's cool that Nachbar realizes what it takes to make it in JVG's system and apparently has earned the minutes. I hope he does well.
from what ive seen on tv and live, boki sometimes gets too nervous when he gets the ball, which is often why he can't shoot well. sometimes you can just tell that he doesnt want the ball and will too quickly give it up like its hot potato, even if he is open. its like he forgets that he can hit the three pretty well. the boy just needs better nerves and then, i think he can be a pretty good player.
