january is just my own speculation on him being in game shape based on being out of competitive play for more than a year and a half. per his not being ready for training camp:

Well, that's a nice Warriors way of telling the story, but that's not close to what happened, and it wasn't a career ending injury, just a devastating one. Livingston came back from his injury at 23 years old, Golden State picked him up when he was 29 years old and had some nice productive seasons with multiple teams.

He had some very nice and productive seasons with Charlotte, Milwaukee, Cleveland and Brooklyn, and it was after he became sought after when he was killing it with Brooklyn that GS picked him up.

Don't make the Warriors out into something they aren't, they didn't develop post-injury Livingston, he got back to great form and they took advantage of the opportunity to bring him in.

None, including Brandon Knight, he wasn't trying to block the shot, he isn't dumb, he was actually trying to break up the lob pass which is a smart thing to attempt, it just didn't work out

If I recall correctly, Morey cut Livingston at one point and went with Jeremy Lin.

Brandon Knight hasn’t been a positive basketball player in a number of years.

Maybe he surprises but the odds are against it.

The Rockets didn’t likely get much help on the court in the Anderson deal. They got a contract that is not guaranteed and another one that is easier to move and saves on the luxury tax.

Exactly! What makes Morey different is that he always has an exit strategy, or plan B, to those gambles, which are necessary to get max value for money. As the saying goes, “ Morey is playing chess, while others playing checkers”. We shouldn’t ignore the facts when evaluating this recent trade that Knight is an expiring deal that can be moved easier than Ryno later in the year, and also we kept as much MLE as possible for buyout season, when there are so many players on last year of contract this season.

Knight has 2 years on his contract. Fortunately, it's smaller than Ryno's. 14.6 M this year and 15.6 M next season.

You do realize that his lowest average minutes per game for a year is 28 minutes. If he has recovered from his injury, he should get at least 20 minutes per game. 14 minutes per game is just foolishness.

yup. zero on court production either way. it cost melton to lower the cap hit from ryno to knight. anything knight or chriss do on the court is a bonus. if they don't give us anything in-game, we still accomplished what we needed to do with this trade. i also assume no one will be trading FOR knight's on court production. we will be trading his dead cap space and a pick for a player we need. it should be easier to trade $14M/2yr of dead weight rather than $21M/2yr

I don't have any illusions that the Knight/Chriss returns are key pieces. But, I am a bit more hopeful they could be contributors than you. But I firmly understand the skepticism.

It might be stupid.....but it is a bit telling that Morey hasn't "welcomed" the new additions via a tweet.

Ya know, something like what he did with Bruno Caboclo (and Ennis, MCW, Anthony...hell even ROB GRAY!)

He was almost and All Star and has been playing a number of years. The only thing CP3 and Harden can teach him is the system, not how to be a point guard.

    Draft profile in 2011
"Big point guard with excellent size and speed and scoring ability … Extremely fast player who excels pushing the ball up the court …. Has a tremendous first step to get by opponents off the dribble … Strong one on one player … Excellent at driving to the basket, good body control, and a quality finisher on the move … Very creative passer … Quick decision maker … A fierce competitor, really steps his level of play up in big situations … High motor guy. Plays with a high level of intensity and passion … Strong work ethic, constantly looking to improve both his body and game"

According to stats he and Gordon are almost the same exact player.

    good point!

don't get me wrong, i'm hopeful. but i don't think on-court production was the reason for the trade. a lot of discussion in the GARM is about how our new pieces can help, what their roles will be etc... and i just like to point out this was more of a cap/asset trade than a basketball one. i dont think we should expect either to contribute, but they sure do have that potential.

Post injury Livingston was also playing very well for Rockets in preseason but McHale and Morey let him go to retain Flynn. Smh

Better passer, not as good a defender.

Knight just needs to be ready to play when CP can't. Expectations are a little ridiculous right now.

And according to stats Marquese Chriss is as good as PJ Tucker.

    Deep thinkers in here yeah?
