This guy is Yao's buddy so I am not surprised his article is bias. But he does has his point. Game is really easy when others can figure out ways to give the ball to Yao. Boston still defend Yao the same way, fronting him and sandwiching him. But teammates did a great job giving the ball to Yao in the first half. So you cannot say it is impossible to give the ball to Yao because he dont have his position or he can't hold his position, blah, blah, blah. Move the ball, quick swing to the middle and pass to Yao as soon as he roll to the basket. That is how you pass the ball to Yao when he is fronted. Yao's problem is he has to demand his teammates to execute the game plan. He should be aggressive to his opponents and sometimes his teammates. Of course he need to improve his stamina in the offseason.
As much as I dislike reporters in general, this Yang-Yi guy in particular, but I have to tell you that most of the things in his article sound from his conversation with Yao, with some of his own speculations, of course. I know it's hard for most of Americans to understans this, but it just doesn't sound right for Yao to demand the ball, demand to be THE MAN when there are many seniors around. That's how he was raised, and how he was coached. We can either wait for him to wait for his turn, or set him as the MAN by trading Francis away. I don't like either choices, but I just don't see any other quick solution. --daoshi
Actually, this wasn't on the team so much as it was on JVG. I'm not a fan of him in general, but he does make excellent adjustments. Running that high post with the power forward was very, VERY smart and freed up Yao in the middle. Boston overplayed everything and got burned.
Luckily, we did not have Gasol, Parker and AK47 in our team. Otherwise, some nuts will post Spanish, French and Russian without translation. But....it may be a good trade idea if we can trade JVG or SF for those 3 player
I'm not sure I agree with Yang Yi's evaluation of the team, but his take on Yao's situation is dead on. Asians are raised to wait their turn and respect the more senior people in an organization. Yao, by nature, feels like he must defer to Steve and Cuttino. The only way to change that is to make Yao the senior member of team. This means a trade if the Rockets want to make Yao the man. Not saying I agree, or that Yao will ever be a dominant player. But that's just the way it is.
come on!only help!?no,the big guy will substitute them as the man of ROX . but they've been the leader of the team for almost 5 years and they feel as if they will lose it,how would they be?u would understand their action if u put urself in their shoes.just think about it!
Trade is not the only way. Yao may understand the American culture better along with time, and know what are can dos and no can dos in America. It's not out of the question.
just because you would feel threatened does not mean they are. See, thats some of yalls problems... Yall all think you know what is going on in their heads...when in all honesty.....YOU DONT!!!! You are attributing feelings and emotions that you THINK they have when you dont have the foggiest notion what they think. Those two guys are gymrats...the first to show and the last to leave.. they care about winning more than anything else..that is why sometimes SF tries to take over games when he thinks nothing else is working... Im not saying that is a good thing,as a matter of a fact it is the only knock I have against SF.. ...the very fact that SF has changed his game and is working to play within VG's system should show you that he does care about winning the way that VG wants them to play...... as Yao shows them that he is ready to shoulder some of the load consistently, he will get the amount of the load he deserves.. IN case you havent noticed(and I can tell you havent), Yao is not a god...nor is he Superman...he is a second year player with severe stamina and strength problems...I have faith that he will in time overcome that...but until then...We need SF and CM to play their hearts out in order for this team to win. ..... for yall all to think all they care about is some percieved notion of their "status" on the team is ludicrous.
Typical chinese is not 7'6. Typical chinese doesnt play in NBA. Typical chinese doesnt make millions of dollars. So if yao wants to be typical chinese he can go back home and even take my job. I would take his job and do whatever the team ask me to do including kick anyone's ass. I will then annonce my retirement after being benched for whole year. The next step is of course to enjoy the REST of my life. Too bad the contract is guaranteed otherwise I think yao would beat JVG up if he's benched. Respect the seniors? LOL.....
I hate to say this but this post kinda explains why Yao score 19 in first half but ONLY 2 points in second half. Also, for the past 2 games, Mo is the only player who is willing to pass to Yao. Give credits to Mo.
oh no...you are most incorrect grasshopper. I counted more than 3 times that Cat passed to Yao...JJ passes to Yao...Boki passsed to Yao...Sf even passed to Yao Yao had the ball in perfect position to score in the second half at least 4 or 5 other times....and he passed out at least 3 of those times...and the other ones were a foul and a strip.. my question to Yao is...WHY PASS??? He was closer to the basket than he was in the first half...yet he passed.. You cant blame all of his lack of productivity in the second half on everyone else..he has to take the shot when he has the ball
I didn't actually count the numbers but I did notice a few times that Yao got hot on first half and just completely became non factor during second. There must be a reason right?
LOL,how could i express my feeling?even i feel threaten, why not them?thats human nature!be realistic!its about money, about fame, about the future! on the other hand, just check all Rox's games out, whenever they play as a team, they won the game!i dont care whos the leader, maybe so does yao!if passing is well, every teamplayer can contribute to ROX.this's the team ball, this is the smartest ball. One vs one is good,is fantastic.but maybe u win this one,but u'll lose the next.we're already seen the style for a long time, what did it bring for ROX!!?? i sincerely hope im wrong, that is not our teamplayer's selfish.so,we can sit back drink cup of coffee see ROX show!
IMO...it comes down to one thing... if they win a championship... it doesnt matter who the first option is...they ALL get the accolades. and even tho they may make some dumb mistakes....they damn well know that their chances of winning it all hinge on Yao being the canter we all hope he can become.. we know that they know that and in the end...thats all that matters.
No,u r wrong yao got ball in low postion 3-4times 1 triple teamed miss the hook shot 2 hit hook shot 3 got the ball in l-post ,pass back to cat, obviously he want to re-P,but cat shoot a 3' , miss yao got the ball 3-4 times 18-20 away thr Basket. , pass to boki ,hit 3' As. shoot a airball .........
