Pj Tucker at the 5, Melo at the 4, have fun.

    - Need backup center with length, bulk, size and hustle - I would pick Hartenstein
    - Need backup center just bulk, some 3 pt shooting, and hustle - PJ Tucker
    - Need backup center with length and some 3 pt shooting -> Qi

    Goodness gracious.

How are there still people who think Qi is going to contribute to an NBA team.

Chriss. We need to see what he can do: either gel with our team and eventually become part of the rotation. Or be underwhelming and use as trade piece. I doubt Qi is ready

You're right. Everyone who is tall contributes to an NBA team.

Chriss is only 1 year and 2 months older than Melton, but he has 2 years of actually experiencing the NBA - in terms of understanding the level of competition and commitment. As long as we treat him like a rookie and he is willing to be treated like a rookie, I would say he has a chance of showing he is a capable backup. This means going back to basics: understand where to be on PnR/Corner3/Defense, work on your FT and 3pt shooting relentlessly, give consistent effort in practice and games. 21 years old with 2 failed NBA years is better than being 20 years old and having to learn the NBA life and work on your shooting IF IT'S FOR A CONTENDER. He has other things working in his favor, which is that he's not afraid to give/take contact inside.

Reading Suns fans posts about their organization, it is very clear that Watson had no idea how to coach an offense and they have not been good at developing young guys. Players just standing around while Booker takes his time. Further, if you look at the Suns they are loaded with young players and only one of them has met or exceeded expectations, and that's Booker. Tells me they are simply not doing a good job of developing young guys. You could make the claim that they picked poorly, but the truth is they picked players in spots that most teams were rating those players.

I think Qi has a future, but Chriss could be the more likely prospect to blossom. The team option covers training camp, preseason and a handful of games. I don't think that's enough time to convince Morey to commit to five more million, even if he does fairly well. Which means he's playing for his career at the moment, and that could be a huge motivating factor.

If we decline his option, do we have his bird rights? Could we go over the cap to sign him next summer?

I think Hartenstein is more ready to contribute in the NBA than either player. But I see Zhou Qi as more of a 4 anyway.

Qi has had a respectable showing in the Asia Games final. I'd be interested to know from someone whom he was matched up with. Iran had former NBA journeyman Hamed Ehdadi Haddadi (now 32 years old, formerly of the Memphis Grizzlies and Phoenix Suns, but he is 7' 2") anchoring their effort. He had 27 points and 10 boards.

Qi's line score was 15/11 with 4 blocks. He played with 3 fouls from the mid 3rd quarter on in a tight contest. Pretty efficient in that he had 9 total shots (3-5 from 3) for the game (in 31 minutes).

He was manning the 4 and shored up the weak side D.

Wang Zhe Lin was the 5, but could not contain Haddadi. It was a group effort.

Abudurexiti went off. Iran bricked their shots in the 2nd half.

Chriss gets a shot with Qi refining his game in the d/g league. When Chris is moved, Qi comes up like Capela did a few years ago.

Mike very rarely says things about rookies.
