im thinking of chris webber in a rockets uniform next year. that will get me through watching the rockets miss the playoffs again. Im also seeing neece and kennedy falling off a cliff in a car on fire. ------------------ http://www.democrats.com mgh 1925-2001 [This message has been edited by dc rock (edited April 10, 2001).]
Do you see Eddie Griffin or Jason Richardson in a Rocket Uniform lol ------------------ President of the Steve Francis, Jamal Crawford,Larry Hughes, and Charles Woodson fan club.
what about Eric Curry, after we trade all 3 picks and Cato and Wizzard to New JErsey for their 6th pick ------------------ got milf?
I think Curry's a top 3 pick, if not the number 1 pick in the draft. I like the idea of drafting him though. Your talking about Eddy Curry right? ------------------ Never judge a man until you walk a mile in his shoes. That way when you do judge him, you're a mile away and you have his shoes. This doesnt sound like a guy that is leaving. "That's my roller," Webber said of the first-year starter. "I told him, it's going to be me and him. We want to be in the history of Sacramento, as that duo. And the way he plays and the way he gets it going, he's showed me a lot of heart." "One thing you can tell about somebody who has heart is it's like they are a sleeping giant," Webber said. "They can miss all the shots in the world, but if somebody says something to them, and they want the ball, then it's over. "Peja showed me that." ------------------
Nice quotes Sand, where they from, you have a link???? ------------------ "Repression never did me any harm (I finally ceased to include "stop masturbating" as one of my guilt ridden New Year's resolutions, but that's a different topic)." Achebe - programmer by day, Mrs Palmers Husband by night
You can find quotes from Webber during the course of this season that makes it sound like he's going to every team in the NBA. No one really knows what his plans are and you can't trust anything he says now. ------------------ Never judge a man until you walk a mile in his shoes. That way when you do judge him, you're a mile away and you have his shoes.
The difference is, All the national media use the littlest quotes (some being old) that may show Webber leaving, but they never pickup on the hundreds of quotes that he says about staying in Sacramento.. I think that is why most Kings fan dont fret it so much.. we see him on TV and listen to him on the radio all the time saying how great Sac is.. Even the (mis) - quote of him not having soul food in Sacramento. ------------------
SandB/Bill, the quotes you post don't mean too much. I could wind up in the history of Iowa City but I won't stay here for long. As far as "misquoted," politicians aren't the only ones who backpedal when they realize the magnitude of their remarks once they hit print. Webber can, indeed, make history in Sacramento if he wins a championship. And he has good friends on the team. It would be painful for him to leave. I just wonder if a man who hasn't bothered unpacking for 3 years really wants to stick around. At the same time, the place might have grown on him in recent months. And leaving a championship team without compensation would be tough. Still,.... Truth is, we can't trust what he says now, nor can we trust "insider info" because anything he says could be truth, double talk, or throwing off the scent...we just don't know. ------------------
It wasn't so much of a misquote as much as Ric Bucher taking one sentence out of a paragraph. Webber's complaint that he had to drive 90 minutes to find soul food was followed by saying that he also loves chinese food and his favorite place to eat was just up the road. I guess Bucher's pen ran out of ink and couldn't finish writing the paragraph. Is Sacramento devoid of soul food joints? Hell no. Webber doesn't even live in Sacramento - he lives in Granite Bay which is approx 20-25 miles north of mid town Sac. There are a number of great soul food places in Sac, but Chris chose to live in a gated community way outside of town. So 90 minutes is BS unless you drive from Granite Bay to south Sac during rush hour. The food thing was way overblown and Chris himself said that he wouldn't make a decision based upon what he eats. ------------------
yes, they can sign him for more $$, no, it's not a whole heck of a lot more. i think they're talking $13M vs $12M per year. The soul food quote WAS taken out of context. He's staying, I'd say with 90% certainty. ------------------
Yes, it was probably taken out of context, that soul food quote. All those unpacked boxes of his things, just sitting around the house. That was probably taken out of context, too. Putting his house up for sale. That was misleading, too. I'm sure he'll buy a different house in Sacramento. Living in a fishbowl. Yeah, what was that all about? Taken out of context. Sorry for the sarcasm, because Webber can change his mind, but he has backpedaled or stayed mum since that article. You learn the hard way not to speak to the media. Sacramento is a great team for C-Webb. But will he feel comfortable there for another 7 years? Will Floppy Divac keep playing for long? Chris may like the players there (I'm sure he does), but the culture clash must be pretty strong (Serbia, Turkey, Detroit, Kentucky) even if the mix is interesting and seems to work. But is it what he's looking for? Can he deal with it until he's 35/36 years of age and retires? If the Kings win it all, all bets are off. I still say his urge to go will be stronger than the urge to stay. If he goes, I'm sure he'll want the Kings to get compensation (Van Horn, for example [3-way]). ------------------
Base salary wise, the Kings can't pay him more than another team under the cap. The difference is, he'd get 12.5% increases, instead of 10%. Last year, the difference was 89 million, instead of 93 million. Not too much. If Sacramento signed and traded him, he'd get the 12.5% increases. Webber is trying to play the market, like every free agent should. His decision will depend upon how much longer does he want to play. ------------------ "That's been a lifelong dream of mine." -Vince Carter, after laying it in on a breakaway, much to the Vancouver crowd's displeasure.
So the poor guy has to live in Sacramento for the next seven years so that everyone will like him? To hell with that. He didn't want to go to Sacramento in the first place; and even if he helped himself greatly in his time there, he should do what he thinks is best for Chris Webber. Is there anyone here who wouldn't do the same? He doesn't owe Sacramento anything. He brought them extra excitement for a few years. The fans there should be glad. Let NBC/TNT/TBS/Peter Vecsey find another team to worship next year. ------------------
The Kings' offense seems rather well suited to the rule changes, IMO. Noone holds the ball for longer than a few seconds, you never see 4 guys on the weakside pointing at the other players' feet, etc. But he'll still go to Houston. ------------------ ballerina, you must have seen her... dancing in the sand
i dont care much about quotes. but when webber said he did'nt know if he would stay in sacramento even if they won a championship when he was on jim rome told me that the chances of webber staying in sacramento are less than the chances of him leaving (whether it be houston, new york, or anywhere else) ------------------ http://www.democrats.com mgh 1925-2001 [This message has been edited by dc rock (edited April 12, 2001).]
