    Call it desperation. :D

Starting Jackson is lunacy. Just picture Francis guarding a 2 and Jackson guarding a lightning fast 1... or even the other way around, with MJ on say, T-mac. JVG may have some tricks up his sleeve when it comes to defense, but this is way beyond his magic...

    Let's see:

MJ on a 10 year old Lebron

    MJ on Kobe

    MJ on Marbury

    MJ on Kidd

    The hits keep coming....

I don't expect MJ to play... much. Seriously, the guy is old, and Wilks hasn't been that bad. As I pointed out in the other thread, under JVG, MJ had career average worsts in points, assists, steals, FG%, and FT % (not counting last year's "cancerous" stint with Utah).

I think he's being brought in teach and lead... not play.

That wasn't a typo - a 10 year old Lebron would still light him up...

Why do people keep bringing up MJ's defensive deficiencies? Oh no, by playing MJ we're missing Steve Francis' defence. AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH. There goes our playoff hopes. Name one player in your list or any average rookie PG that hasn't torched Steve except Kobe on national TV, and the hits keep coming...

He also averaged 18.8 assists per 48 minutes. Whats the point? I just assume that you have to turn the ball over sometimes if you're passing at a high frequency. The man just rolls the dice more than other players. That's like saying about a guy who wins a hundred bucks at a slot machine,"But he spent $20 in the process!" Assists are guarenteed 2 points minimum. We already turn the ball over alot anyway so why not give them a bit more to a guy who gets stuff done for the final score. I doubt he's play more than 15 minutes.

This is a good move and we could still make a trade for whoever later if we really need to. We don't give anybody up! Who else could we possibly pick up to play the role he is going to? And on top of that, he doesn't alledgedly hate Jewish people. Where can this go wrong? ;)

If hes coming good cause he can be a change of tempo off the bench. Van Gundy can't hold this guy back please don't. Hes also can help steve out a lil hes a vet he can teach Francis on when to run and when not to run this will give Van Gundy more confidence in Steve. He cant start cause he play no defence thats why he wasn't in the game clutch time in Indiana and why New York let him go the first time.

Yeah, a true point guard would defintely help out Yao on the offensive end, but I tend to agree with the majority of the posters that this guy is too old to play more than 17 minutes a game.

I wonder what kind of shape he's in. If he's fit, it'd be interesting to see MJ/Wilks running the point, with SF/Cat at the 2. If he's effective, JVG would have quite a bit of situational lineup flexibility.

That would be interesting if Cat came off the bench with Mo Taylor. I wonder how that would work?

I don't think Francis will play that much at 2 when Jackson is on the court. Francis needs ball to be effective, and the same thing is true with Jackson. The only difference is with Jackson having the ball, he is more looking for pass, or post-up, while Francis more looks for scoring.

Another factor is Jackson's age. I don't think we can expect more than 12 minutes per game out of him.

Oh, talk about Francis' weak defense, Mark will make Steve proud of his defense.
