MeToo activist Asia Argento settled sex assault complaint for $380,000, report says

Italian actress Asia Argento recently settled a complaint filed against her by a young actor and musician Jimmy Bennett who said she sexually assaulted him when he was 17, the New York Times reported. The 42-year old Argento settled the notice of intent to sue filed by Jimmy Bennett, who is now 22, for $380,000 shortly after she said last October that movie mogul Harvey Weinstein raped her, the Times reported.

Argento – one of the most prominent activists of the #MeToo movement against sexual harassment – co-starred with Bennett in a 2004 film called "The Heart Is Deceitful Above All Things" in which Argento played Bennett's prostitute mother.

Bennett says in the notice that he had sex with Argento in a California hotel in 2013. The age of consent in California is 18.

The notice says the encounter traumatized Bennett and hurt his career, the Times reported.

The newspaper said it received court documents that included a selfie of Argento and Bennett in bed. Three people familiar with the case said the documents were authentic, the Times reported.

McGowan has an earlier tweet about "having a heavy heart. The comments are pretty interesting.

Looks like Asia knew/acted with him when he was a young boy and referred to him repeatedly as "my son" on social media the day of the sexual encounter.

Need to learn how to link, but I found it worth a look. Puts an even darker slant on the story.

Harvey Weinstein is still a rapist. Most of the people in Hollywood are just also sexual degenerates.

The hypocrisy when hollywood was pretending to be virtuous was amazing, now when more truths come out it is just even more so.

The statute on rape is like seven years? Odd that someone so all about calling out sexual assault is a rapist.

Or the Catholic Church, TBH. Be gentle: he learned about Hollywood via a Chick pamphlet.

Blaming Tony for this payment is a really bad idea.

That's not odd at all actually, it's kind of expected.

She paid them off, and no doubt a stipulation of that agreement had the victim agree/sign that the perpetrator admitted no wrongdoing, and that they would not pursue further legal action.

Basically signing a payoff deal, means you can't press charges. Investigators can bring charges if they have other evidence, but payoff agreements are written in a way that makes the victim's testimony pretty much worthless.

It is a common legal tactic in payoffs, like for wrongful termination agreements and such.

Harvey didn't have agreements with everyone he assaulted, and he had so many victims, that his victims that did have agreements were given the freedom to talk, because there was no way that Harvey's defense could fight to silence all of the victims at once.

In her denial statement she says "Anthony insisted the matter be handled privately" which is why they paid the accuser hush money. I guess she would've publicly addressed this at the time if not for Bourdain. Just threw his pile of ashes under the bus.

    RIGHT.
    WRONG.

    DO.
    DON'T.

You could make it that easy for her and she would still fail. Some people are just that mixed up.

I'm sorry Bourdain got involved with her. (I did like the Rome episode where they met, but not worth it now, to be sure.)
