Why would they rather go out to watch a 40-some-year old has-been than watch our young and exciting Rockets? :D

This is a Rockets fan page so this thread all sounds like people feeling sorry for themselves. :D

Being the underdog is what being a Rockets fan is all about.

Astros knew something was missing, so they went out and got 2 big-time players, McLane even lost a lot of money last season, but knew something had to be done. Good For the Astros.

If you want to complain about ticket revenue, don't blame the Astros, don't blame the players, blame MANAGEMENT.

Les needs to learn something from McLane and do something. He talked about a "Big Splash," Big Splash my A$$ Les. He talked about it, he even knew we needed something, and nothing.

Les and CD screwed up our payroll and roster so bad that it's almost left us in a stalemate. You let a 4 first round picks out the window, and all the same freak'n team. You have a troubled kid that didn't work out, but other teams wanted him, some badly, and we just waive the guy, absolutely nothing in return. We didn't want to pay Posey, but we were happy to pay Mooch, Cato, or MoT a whole lot more. (I can't believe someone actually took Mooch)

If ya'll want to complain, complain to Les and CD.

I couldn't agree more. The first thing most of noticed was how exciting it is to be a fan of the Astros again. Just like when the rockets signed Glide. The Rockets are a lame duck right now. And that's frustrating for me because I believe we have all the right players on the team to win a championship. But I wouldn't be honest if I didn't look at the team and wonder when is this going to get exciting. We don't need some meager trade. This franchise needs an infusion. A lightning rod. Even Grant Hill would be more exciting than what we've got going right now. And that's how sad it has gotten. Somebody needs to light a fire under this franchise. we have no draft picks coming up. No prospects. No Money. Nothing to look forward too excpet maybe, just maybe a playoff game.

But I forgot to add. Yao is not the problem. He's the one shred of light in the whole franchise. When he explodes we explode. He's got to stay because he's a potential lightning rod of excitement.

Is it crazy to think that this could help the Rockets? Many people who don't go to sports games and haven't visited downtown Houston will hopefully have a very enjoyable experience. They will probably want do it more than once. They might even want to try a different sport, which wouldn't be crazy- aren't most fans of the Astros also fans of the other sports teams in Houston? They will also get a good look at the new and improved downtown area and if the Rockets make the playoffs and get some hype then that's a new potential fanbase that wasn't there before.

How many people are fans of only one sports team? I went to Rockets, Texans, and Astros games last year. I never thought of the different sports as direct competitors- they rarely play at the same time, and once you start following one sport it's hard not to get into the others.

Nobody here is saying that since the Astros made this move, people will choose them over the Rockets.

We're just saying that now, we don't HAVE to depend on the Rockets for sports success... and thus, there's no real reason to get excited about them with the way they're playing.

I'm sure the relatively few who haven't been out downtown for a single Astros game yet might get intrigued to goto maybe one Rockets game... but that will be it.

I think everybody in here who's rooting on the Astros were always originally Rockets fans as well.... but at least now, with the crappy way the Rockets are playing, some of us are starting to look forward to baseball season more.

That's where people may stop caring/watching/GOING to the games.

If they win... they'll be fine. If they continue to play like this, they're not going to just get fans by default... as everybody who DOES want to goto a sporting event, will probably go to the Astros who will be the HOTTEST ticket in town come April.

Does having MOST of the Houston Rockets home games on local television (Channel 51) have anything to do with the attendance problems at Toyota Center? I remember when you had to have cable in order to view the home games (Fox Sports SW), but now you don't need cable.

Just put it on Channel 51 and you have basketball.

The infuriating inconsistency of the Rockets and the incredible suckitude of the TC are the big problems for the Rocket ticket revenue.

Hey, maybe if the team doesn't keep getting enough support the Rockets will move to Montreal.

    I can always dream....

We're not that desperate down here. You're going to have to look elsewhere for a team buddy. :)

TC has a 30 year lease. Rox are going nowhere anytime soon.

I don't know about ticket revenue, but it will definitely hurt the Rockets exposure. I was hoping with football season winding down that we would finally hear some Rocket talk on all the sports talk shows. Fat chance now.

Clearly, the Rockets are a distant 3rd behind the Texans and Astros in this city as far as fan interest goes.

Football season isn't winding down in Houston, we have 250,000 fans coming for the super bowl.

a good friend in the know told me yesterday that after the Stros signed Andy P. the dozens of call center agents they had calling out to sell tickets had to be switched over to take calls from people who were calling in to buy season tickets. With Clemens now on board you can bet that is increasing today. Add the Rockets/JVG paint drying home games and it does look bleak for the Rockets at this point.

    :(

Clements will hurt the rockets ticket sales, but what is hurting them more is not just them being inconsistent but the horrible play. The game the rockets play now deserves nothing more that a look at on the tv if even that. I want to see the new arena soooo bad, but I refuse to go until they put a product I want to see on the court.

It is but I want to be a fan with his team in the playoffs. I am tired of watching this team not make it. Who knows when the city of houston will have another championship. Because I will tell you right now the Astros wont win. I dont care who they get they wont even win there own division. I wont even get started on the Texans it will be 10 years before they even get into the playoffs!

His first game, the opposing pitcher should throw a ball right at the rockets head. When do they play the mets?:p
