Last year, it seems everyone was complaining that the Rockets were not disciplined enough, that the players needed to have a coach that would be more forceful and implement a stricter game plan... Now, suddenly we're pining for the "good old days" with Rudy T? Oh, man... I always thought Rudy was the right coach for this team, and that it would just take time for the players to mature and develop. I remember a few posts I made on this board stating that we had one of the youngest teams in the league and that we should be patient. I got flamed by most of the posters because, in their opinions, Francis and Mobley had enough time in the league to be playing like veterans, and that the problem was the coach not reining them in and making them more disciplined. All I can say now is that I do think the Rockets are a better team this year than they were last year, and they are WAY more disciplined (isn't that what everyone wanted??). That is partly due to less injuries and some roster improvements, but also I think JVG is doing a really good job. I still wish Rudy was the coach, but I am definitely not unhappy with the job JVG is doing. Regardless of who coaches this team, we are still a few years away from having a contender. People, if you take a good look at the Western Conference teams that are current playoff powerhouses (i.e. Spurs, Lakers, Kings, Mavs, T-Wolves and, until this year, Utah) all these teams have or had quality veteran players. Yet, it was only in the last couple of seasons that Dallas started to emerge. The Wolves have been first-round fodder since the late 90's. The Spurs had David Robinson and a host of other experienced players over the past few years. The Lakers... well, need I say anything about veterans on THAT team? The Kings are loaded with talent and experience -- Doug Christie, Vlade Divac, and Chris Webber. Peja played professionally in Europe starting at age 12 for crying out loud. We should all be thankful for the great job Steve Patterson did assembling the first championship team -- that was LOADED with veterans and key rookies (i.e. Sam Cassell). The privilege of winning championships is something that should be cherished. We even won back-to-back. You can't just bottle that and reproduce it at will. So, sit back, relax, and enjoy the games because as much as I hate to say it, it could be a while before we get to the mountaintop again.
BWAHAHAHAHA! Thanks for brightening up my day... Take that "rah rah rah" stuff back to cheerleading camp, Trixie...

nice try Axeman..seriously.. unfortunately, very few of these grasshoppers care to hear the truth. they would rather blow up the team and restart the process all over again. Patience is a dirty word these days. but Im with ya, and so are many others that dont care to get flamed for speaking the truth. I have my asbestos underwear on...so bring on the flames!
I'm with ya' man! I have faith... but then... I'm a Rockets fan with patience, not a high school kid with no life.
I agree, we need to give them a little more time. We have a strong and better squad this year, and we've seen what they are capable of being. Although time is running, out if we dont make the playoffs.Look for Steve or Cat to be on another team next season.
I'd be patient but my cell phone is ringing, I'm driving down I-10 at 75mph while typing this message and drinking a soda. I'm about to drive through the cleaners, a fast food place and the bank before answering 20 emails while listening to MP3's on my iTunes, talk radio and watching the game. Like I said...wait, what was the question again?
I don't think you can give him credit for anyone other than Thorpe, Maxwell, and Smith. Cassell and Horry were Rudy draft picks, and Elie was a Rudy move as well. Not sure about Herrera.
