I think this is my first real "personal post" here, but I figured now is a good time as any. I had to put my pekingese Mazzy down last night. She had degenerative disc disease in her back, which was probably caused by her being a product of inbreeding. Last night was the fifth time in the past seven or eight months we had to take her in for back problems. This wasn't going to get any better with drugs, and we didn't want to put her through the pain of back surgery, which wouldn't have guaranteed her a normal life, either. I never thought I would be this sad over losing a pet, but this is the first pet that was really mine. When I came home from work, she was usually there on the balcony, sticking her little head through the railing, waiting for me to come up. Now, she won't be there anymore. Next month would have been her 2nd birthday...
Sorry to hear that, A-Train. I dread the day that I have to say goodbye to Rex and Jake. But I think you did the right thing as I believe it is not right to have an animal go through pain like that, but it sure doesn't make things any easier.
Dude, that is sad.. I have lost some dogs over the years for various reasons (car hits, old age) and it never is easy to let them go. I feel bad for ya AT.... +
Sorry to hear that. I had to put my last dog to sleep due to similar situations. It is the right thing to do for the pet's sake, but it does not make it any easier on you. May happier times reach you soon.
Sorry to hear about your dog. Amazing how animals become part of our family. Our german shepard is so much a part of the family that it would be hard to imagine life with out her.
Sorry to hear it, man. Take a little time, and then go get a puppy. Le roi est mort, Vive le roi (the king is dead, long live the king) -- droxford
Sorry, man. I've had pets in my life basically since birth so I know that's got to be rough even though it's really for the best. RIP
+ Sorry about that. My girldfriend would go berzerk if she saw this because she's an animal loving freak so I'll be sure to logout. Sorry again.
I've lost dogs/animals before...It's a sad, very sad thing and I don't wish this on anyone because pets are truly part of the family... Sorry to hear about your loss...
Dude, I'm so sorry. We had to put our dog down two years ago. It was the single most painful ordeal I've ever been through. I'll keep you in my thoughts, man. Good luck.
I've lost several dogs over the years, and it always sucks. I know this sounds inconsiderate, but the best remedy is to go out and get a new one. It won't replace the old one, but it will make the time easier. And you've also gotta remember, we (hopefully) will outlive all our dogs. You'll get over it. Now go buy a new puppy!
Sorry, A-Train. Fatbastard is right, in a way. Another pup is usually a good healer. But most people can't bring themselves to do that right away, it just depends.
I'm so terribly sorry, A-Train. + While away in college, our family Yorkie (which was around for my entire childhood) had to be put down due to a brain tumor (or something similiar with the brain). That day was the saddest I think I've EVER been. Hell, I'm getting choked up just typing this. My mom was distraught for a long time, until my dad finally got a new Yorkie puppy to cheer her up. So, to echo other's sentiments here: Get a new puppy. And never forget the good times you had with the deceased one.
I am so sorry... I know I will be really upset the day something happens to my kitty. It's too bad your little companion was not around for that long, but you can always remember that, in that time, she gave you all the love and companionship she had. RIP Mazzy. +
