Considering that it's just a matter of time before Ryan gets moved, and we have the full MLE.... who, realistically do you want ? We've had plenty of the same names thrown around. So , here's the poll. Two answers apiece w/ anyone else thrown down below.
If you didn't pick Jimmy Butler from that list then I don't know.... More realistic, I would like Porter or Oubre for a deal for Anderson. For the MLE, give me Lucas Nogueria and call it a day.
Accidentally voted for Shump. I would be shocked if we got Porter. The Wizards and/or Timberwolves struggling this season would help us. Butler is somewhat possible because he's expiring.
I saw an article about Batam, Shumpert or Jonathan Simmons as being an option. 1) My preference would be Simmons. I don’t know how the Rockets could pull that off.....but there. http://www.espn.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=ybwg7wls Kick MCW to the curb. Butler, O Porter would be great.....but I can’t see this happening without major concessions. 2) R Hood/James Johnson/Marvin Williams/Batum/Bazemore 3) Shumpert/MKG fall back consolation prize
Give me James Johnson and Courtney Lee. Both are impactful two way players. Lee gives us a veteran defender that can help to check quicker guards on the perimeter. Johnson adds a great mentality to this team along with a well rounded skill set that will help diversify our attack. Center rotation can be Clint/Tuck/Nene/Johnson or whomever.
Butler isn't feasible. So the choice is Porter or Johnson for me. While Porter is a better fit in our system (deadeye shooter and can D it up), his deal is onerous for several reasons: $27 MM per year for 3 years 2020 Player Option 50% of annual salary paid by Oct 1 per season 15% Trade Kicker Plus, I imagine that WAS would require a lot to get rid of one of their core pieces. MIA is a middling tean in the luxury tax, with no clear avenue to contention. They have several good role players who are paid a bit too much. Tyler Johnson is a potential candidate, but I'm a big fan of James Johnson's skillset. James Johnson is our counter to Draymond, can facilitate and D it up, and is a bit cheaper than Porter (~$15 MM). I'd love to some permutation of the following deal: Ryno, 2019 MIA 1st, 2019 HOU 1st to SAC Koufos to MIA Johnson to HOU SAC gets picks for taking on Ryno, MIA gets out of the luxury tax this year and saves a bunch long-term, and we get another piece to run it back against GSW. Lineup against GSW: Capela Tucker/Johnson Melo/Ennis Harden/Green Paul/EGo That is a VERY solid group of 9 that has positional versatility, can switch well defensively, and attack off the dribble.
We only have $4.5m left (after Isaiah's min piece of it). We'll be lucky to have $3.7m to spend (after Melton's min piece).
Aren't all of these guys currently under contract? I guess the assumption is they'll be bought out or something. Otherwise not sure what the MLE has to do with those listed.
worth noting that we may not have full MLE since a portion went to hartenstein and probably a similar portion will go to melton. we probably have something around $3.5M remaining which would only be slightly higher than minimum contracts. if we offered that to hood, mccaw, or nwaba their teams would match in a heartbeat. the other issue is having a roster spot for the MLE player. i think we will have 15 guys right now (although not all are officially signed). this is also before the idea of trading ryno for possibly two smaller contracts. capela-nene-hartentien-nanu melo-ryno-qi tucker-tennis-green harden-gordon paul-mcw-melton of course we can/should cut nanu. we have 4 centers ahead of him, but he's guaranteed so that's a tough cut, especially when you're paying the tax, and double especially when you're replacing him with a more expensive free agent! but ok, lets say we clear a roster spot AND decide not to hold that money for buyout season (which is not a bad idea either). here would be some guys i think could take nanu's spot for the remainder of our MLE in no order: wade, monroe, crawford, booker, young, larkin, nelson, west.
Do y'all understand how trades work? Ryan Anderson is not netting us anybody of value. This offseason has been hilarious in terms of trade proposals.
