MKG isn't any good and has no business being on this team

Yeah Curry vs Melo.....I think GS wins that matchup 9 out of 10 times.

Curry can pass after breaking his man down. Melo is shooting that rock no matter what.

Who said anything about stopping anybody? Just by you asking me this says more about you than it does my post. Ariza's defense on KD in the series was phenomenal. Nobody will not stop Kevin Durant. But the strategic thing you want to do is contain guys like him thru small stretches by making him take tough shots (for key possessions). Ariza was able to do that with his length. THIS is why we were able to take GS 7 games. Ultimately it took it's toll his legs but Ariza was CRITICAL to the Rockets success last season

I think it's funny that Melo has one bad year, playing on a team with a player that is known for de-elevating his teammates production & everyone writes him off & calls him too old. Melo thinks he has a lot of game still, players who are playing with Melo in the offseason think he has a lot of game left.

This isn't a Joe Johnson or Josh Smith situation here. Melo is going to be good next year.

Like yeah thats what you pay defenders to do, stop guys.

Guys were also able to rest on the other end defending him because he wasn't a true threat.

You think Melo is as likely or more to pass as Curry? I haven’t pulled stats but please do share and educate.

    EDIT:
    Career averages
    Melo 19 FGA / 3 AST
    Curry 17 FGA / 7 AST

    More likely? Of course not.

Will he? Yes if the pass is there.

MKG is an elite defender. He's also an above average rebounder....and has cut down his turnovers, while being a good finisher. Anyone who pays attention knows he's finding his way, and is on the come. MKG might not be what many thought when he was drafted so high, but he's only 24, and once you get past that, he's solid. Yes, he makes 13Mil/yr, and has no shot from downtown, but....he won't cost much either.(RA)

PG VS F. One has the rock a lot MORE often than the other. Melo has never been tasked to be the main distributor of any team unlike most PG's.

MKG defense is severely misinterpreted by alot of people around here. it's nothing to get excited about. his impact on the game is no different than some end of bench player.

If he’s able to then he isn’t very willing.

If he’s willing then he isn’t very capable.

Either way given how much he engages the offense he doesn’t create for others as much. Which is fine, he’s not here for that and we didn’t pay for that. But the thought that curry and melo cancel each other out on defense is just silly.

Of course Melo's numbers going to drop his first year ever not being the Man! From 1st option to 3rd option with a ball hog PG.. At least his make 3's went up.. I'm glad he got that experience with OKC now his transition with the Rockets will be a lot easier!

Look back at the thread, I’m not the one that opened the door on Melo v Curry.

He's a scorer. He tries to score.

If Melo is a bad defender according to some of you then so is Curry.

Rockets isolating Curry on Melo is a good gameplan honestly. Between CP3, JH and Melo all attacking him he'll be physically drained towards the end of the game. If you think Melo is incapable of scoring on Curry well enjoy your thought process.

not really. way too many people try to plug all these different players in the "elite defender" category. its not that common. and MKG definitely isn't in that category. his overall impact on actual winning basketball is minimal

Did you watch UTAH series? Who stopped donovan mitchell? The first two games against Golden State, he mainly covered curry and how did curry perform? Later several games he switched to KD, that could be the best defense you can put on KD. Give me another player in the league besides probably AD or Giannis is holding KD better than Ariza.
