Just saw the headline on ESPNEWS. I haven't seen an article posted yet. Why would Miami hire a guy with no prior experience?
Marino to become Dolphins head of football operations Jan. 12, 2004 By Jay Glazer SportsLine.com Senior Writer The Miami Dolphins front-office search has taken an unexpected turn. Dolphins great Dan Marino told SportsLine.com that he has accepted a job as the team's new head of football operations. Marino told SportsLine.com that he will not be joining the team until after the Super Bowl and his broadcast duties are complete. Marino has talked with team owner Wayne Huizenga about such a position for a while, but met with the owner again Monday to finalize the deal. It is expected that he will work with both Dave Wannstedt and player personnel chief Rick Spielman, who should be retained in the deal. Marino is a sure-fire future Hall of Famer and current analyst for The NFL Today on CBS.
I'm not sure he's the right man for the job...I know he's the best Dolphin, but running a franchise...I'm not sure about that...
Hey, he was pretty cool in Ace Ventura! This is just a pathetic PR move by the Dolphins. He'll fail just like Matt Millen has...
Well the Dolphins certainly have a lot farther to fall. The lions were mediocre to begin with. How does Dave Wansted feel about the move. He had to give up his GM title just to save his job. Now he's placing his future in a guy with no prior experience.
well since this thread went from Marino to Hootie what the hell. Have you heard their newest song "Innocence" off their new cd. One of their best, if you haven't heard it, download it and check it out
Just saw on Sportscenter news about this. Huizenga was fielding questions and some reporter asked him if this move was a PR one or that Marino was really to be a figurehead. Wayne wasn't too happy with that question, lol.
