Lol. Gerald Green is not going to get more shots than Melo. I'd like Melo to come in gunning like EG did last year

I don't think they've actually made the trade official yet.

Are the Grizzlies plan to play Jackson at the 4 or at the 5? That's the big question imo.

Regardless, there's no way they trade Gasol for Ryan, and tbh i fail to undertand why they would want Ryan in the first place but, maybe i'm just not getting it. Anyway, pretty sure the Spurs are a team that would jump on Marc with whatever asset they have left at this point.

December? When’s the earliest Garrett Temple can be traded?

In terms of position, I could see J. Jackson and J. Green (their two young bigs) being interchangeable within each position. There's no need to pigeon-hole them to one or the other.

Also, I would see it as a mentorship type deal for the time Ryno is with the team, that would soon factor in as another asset once his contract becomes an expiring next season.

Remembering the rift that Gasol had with Fizdale and the FO last season may factor into their decision as well. Especially if play time becomes an issue for the aging big. We know for ourselves first hand that it would take much more than that to make Ryno a sour mouthed malcontent on their team or ours.

All-in-all salary cap relief and valuable draft picks should be their targets going forward.

I will give him credit for that. I do feel that he doesn't go for guys who are raw, but have more upside at times. Melton and Clark are nice, but Edwards is a safe pick, who has little room for growth. Deng and Billy Preston are more talented than him.

Duval couldn't make it, because of his poor shooting ,but a year in the G-League can help him a lot, instead of wasting it on RJ Hunter. Deng can easily outmatch Markel, who has regressed. I also wonder if DM would have skipped on choosing Metu, if Melton wasn't available. He could have been a backup 4/5. He too, has more upside than Edwards.

The Rockets have no cap room, they should develop talented young players, even though they have shortcomings.
The RA move has made it harder for me, to entirely trust his judgment too.

I'm not saying I told you so...just that it doesn't hurt that we kept our options open for THIS season.

    Llull see...

Really appreciate your post @Codman! Great to see the players excited about Melo joining up.

If Memphis is interested, I have to believe Jamychal Green (+Temple) is the target.

As bad as Anderson's contract is, Parsons' is worse. So any deal there would have to have some sweeteners.

Probably could make it a 3way: HOU // MEM // BRK
    BRK: Temple (MEM) + HOU 2020 2nd
    MEM: Anderson (HOU) + Onuaku (HOU) + HOU 2019 1st (?)
HOU: Green (MEM) + Carroll (BRK) [+ Harrison (MEM)]

Not sure why Memphis agrees to take on Anderson's deal just for a late FRP. That would be such a perfect trade for Houston and so it would not happen.

Thing with Memphis is one of their goals is to try to make the playoffs and get guys on multiple years on their contracts. That is why they made a multi-year offer to Kyle Anderson. Perhaps Memphis would value Ryan Anderson's shooting and might even like his extra year on his deal. Perhaps they are worried JGreen will leave in FA next season and they want a replacement in hand.

Marc Gasol would have so much room to work if he was surrounded by Ryno, Conely, Temple, Kyle.
If Parsons does come back, it would be an interesting loop. Ariza leaves, Parsons enters, years later. Parsons leaves, Ariza comes back, years later. Ariza leaves, Parsons comes back.

Can Parsons even play anymore? His knees are toast right?

If a player retires due to career ending injury, his contract is off the books. Correct? That’s the only way I see us taking Portions back.

If not Parsons, it would need to be JaMychal Green, Garrett Temple, and a player signed for between $1 million and $2 million, to make the salary match.
