He's a starter but he is a bench player on the Rockets.

Cp3 and Harden take the Start.
Melo and Gordon take over off the bench.

That's a deep bench with non stop offense, not sure about the Defense part though but someone will pick up the slack.

I think you start him and take him out with Paul, let harden do his things sub him out and then put cp3 and carmelo back in.

    He is 3 or 4?

He is traditional SF. He is not power enough to be Power Forward..

I think Ennis will start and he will come off the bench with EG to abuse second units. I think it's more important to consider how we STAGGER our main offensive guys. Personally I like...

    Start CP3 + Harden...then sub Gordon for CP3
    - Harden + Gordon: both strong attacking guards. They obviously led the team in 2016 and played valiantly in game 6/7 last year without CP3.
    Sub CP3 + Melo for Harden/Gordon
    - CP3 + Melo: CP3 is better at orchestrating the offense and is better at reading players so I would keep him with Melo to make sure Melo is engaged.
Obviously finish the game with Harden + CP3 + whatever else is needed. Now we have a HoF point guard (Harden + CP3) AND a professional scorer (EG + Melo) for 48 min/game.

I still don't understand why he HAS to start the game on the bench but he's allowed to play starters minutes. I feel like for some of you you'd just get joy in seeing him in warm ups to start the game lol. Weird to me honestly.

He doesn't have the speed anymore to play a traditional SF. He's probably better suited as a stretch 4 in this system.

I can see him starting in place of Ryno, but on limited minutes, maybe 25-30.

WE are going to average 137 points per game. Defense be damned. :)

The poll is just a tiny bit biased.

I don't care he start or coming off the bench. I only care if he's willing to help the team win. Including not playing in the 4th quarter.

I will have significantly reduced expectations for this team if Melo starts. We aren't even going to sniff 7 games against the Warriors with Melo as the starter. We still need another 3 and D wing.

He can't defend LaMarcus Aldridge. OMG, he is going to take away minutes from Anderson.

not power enough to be power forward
not quick enough to be small forward.

How about placing him at shooting guard?

    STARTERS
    Paul----------Def/Off--------31 mins
    Harden-----Offense--------34 mins
    Tucker------Defense-------30 mins
    Melo--------Offense--------31 mins
    Capela-----Defense--------30 mins

    KEY ROTATION
    Gordon----Offense---------30 mins
    Ennis-------Defense--------24 mins
    Anderson----Offense-----12 mins
    Green------Offense---------12 mins
    Zhou-------Defense---------6 mins

    SPOT DUTY
    Nene
Melton (give him shot @ Ryan's mins)
    MCW
    Hartenstein
    Edwards

Paul ran the 2nd unit last year when Harden rested. He'll have Melo mirroring his minutes, helping to run the 2nd unit. That unit would look something like..
    Paul (defense)
    Gordon (offense)
    Ennis (defense)
    Melo (offense)
    Tucker/Zhou (defense)

Still hoping for a Ryan Anderson trade.

Plays like a 3, but with some fading athleticism he'd be better on both ends against slower PFs.

"Power" has nothing to do with playing the 4 in 2018-19 NBA.

He's too slow to be a wing on defense. At the 4 he's less likely to get torched defensively (though it will still happen because he is that bad defensively).

On offense he will be RA + hopefully have the ability to not look so awful when he puts the ball on the floor.

Rebounds is a concern at the 4

His rebound per 48 minutes is 8.7.

His rebound per 24 minutes is 4.3.

He has a career rebound percentage over 10 and he was over 10 last year too. Capela, Tucker, Harden, Paul are all good rebounders for their position. Rebounding should be fine.

I don't take career, I take more recent one.

Anthony's best strength is volume shooting now.

volume shooting at low fg% is also a concern, he needs a new contract next summer like Wade.
