Martin mentioned "efficiency" several times in that interview, talked about not trying to throw as hard as he can, but trying to locate better. Once he gets the location down, the velocity can tick back up. Coupled with his work on his offspeed stuff, especially the changeup (for LHB), I really like that plan. Guys that can get cheap contact outs while still striking guys out are golden.
Where's Joe Perez at? Was out for a handful of games, came back for a game or two, then has been out for three weeks now. Hurt?
Don’t look now but Chuckie Robinson might be breathing new life into his career. Over 10 games in July he’s slashing .314/.385/.486. His overall numbers are still dreadful but good to see signs for hope.
This is huge. If he can put together a really solid rest of the season and maybe work his way up to Buis Creek then he’s back to being a legit top 100 prospect.
Bryan Abreu has had a hot start to his MWL season, with 15Ks 2BB and 1H in 8.2 innings. Hopefully Oz will enlighten us about about this #astrossleeper. Seth Beer also went 2-4 with a double (thank god an XBH)
So is MiLB scoreboard wrong or did Armenteros really throw 8 innings, give up 10 runs, and throw 147 pitches?
Yordan Alvarez, Jamie Ritchie, and Taylor Jones have all homered for Fresno tonight. Alvarez now has 15 homers this year; Ritchie's home run was his second on the year and Jones now has 16.
Best curveball in the system plus 97 mph fb would be a lockdown closer at worst. Starting to think Ocampo might be a little overly optimistic. Still, love reading his insight.
Guessing he sits 93-95 and touches 97, although that would obviously play up as a single inning reliever. Also, Alvarez is closing in on Tucker’s Fresno wOBA from earlier this season.
